I‘m currently going through my DMs here and the hospitality from Americans is INCREDIBLE 😳
The number of people who have invited me to their barbecues, offered to show me their cities, take me to sports events, on boat trips and even want to give me in their vacation homes (!!!) for a week…I am blown away.
Every single message means the world to me. This would never happen back home in Germany. Thank you USA 🇺🇸❤️
Nathan Martin, a 36-year-old high school cross-country coach from Jackson, Michigan, won the 2026 Los Angeles Marathon by running past Kenya’s Michael Kamau in the final second.
@zachb@paulg If you don't support the tax, you should be supporting his move. If the movers and shakers don't move, the very tax you don't support will move forward.
@BlakeBriese@VladTheInflator I take this as “if you can / are considering buying a house and will pay more monthly to “own” OR use that down payment money, closing costs, and money saved into investments.”
The CEO the American Heart Association made $4.4 million in salary in 2024.
Since 2008 when she became President she has made more than $17 million in salary alone.
@Boenau Is this critical mass? For those unfamiliar….its a nationwide slow roll event that local police are aware of. Happens once a month and police cyclist are at the start/end of the group here in Chicago.
If companies didn’t have investors on their cap table without previous litigation, controversy, or political leaning, the pool would be pretty non-existent. They’ve built legit businesses and have a massive following. Not every investor is built for every founder. Rug pulls are dirty, but so is investing in $hit coins.
I'm OBSESSED with this business. I've been following them for over a year - way before they blew up.
What it is:
- Professors and experts giving lectures inside bars
- Topics ranging from psychology to astrophysics to philosophy
- Tickets are $40, and you get to meet other people and learn something new
The appeal is clear - you show up, grab a drink, learn something new, and meet curious like-minded people
After a month of trying, I still haven't been able to snag a ticket. It's constantly sold out
From what I can tell, the whole thing is bootstrapped
They run 300+ events a year
They likely don’t pay venues anything
Tickets are $40
And with the right team, this becomes a beautifully efficient business
I don't know the owners, but I'm guessing they're doing $2M-$3M in revenue at ~80% gross margins. It's an amazing lifestyle business.
But when you scale this nationwide, it can easily become a $20M+ business
And more importantly, I believe this is what the future of IRL experiences looks like
People are tired of digital everything
They want in-person, physical, analog - real events with real people
Events like this are going to explode in the next few years. Hundreds will pop up. And I think there might even be a venture-scale opportunity here
Hot take that I don’t think is that “hot”:
We should seize college endowments, use them to pay down student loans, and eliminate government education subsidies altogether.
Maybe then schools would have to get back to the business of teaching instead of acting like investment firms.
Something very eerie about watching endowments post wall-to-wall green returns while youth unemployment hits record highs, household debt skyrockets, and homeownership plummets.
The very institutions that are supposed to prepare the next generation for the “American Dream” are failing spectacularly - yet they’re the ones being rewarded.
$6.25 billion. 25 million children. $250 each.
Susan and I believe the smartest investment we can make is in children. That’s why we’re so excited to contribute $6.25 billion from our charitable funds to help 25 million children start building a strong financial foundation through Invest America. 💪📈🇺🇸
