How this week's Gundam news hits for an American fan:

We're getting a Gundam Seed Freedom prequel movie that will get one day showing in the US. You’ll have to watch like 100+ episodes, read multiple manga (without an official translation), and probably some light novels (also without an official translation) to enjoy.

Yes, the live-action Gundam movie is in production, we already knew that.

We're getting a Mobile Suit Gundam remaster that’ll probably be lazy AI-upscaled slop that they’ll sell for $400 through one niche retailer and it’ll immediately sell out forever and get zero reprints. Oh and it's not coming out until 2029. Bonus slop points if it's also cropped to widescreen.

They're making a Gundam Wing “long-form project” which will probably be a four minute video of something really cool they’ll never ever follow up on.

Despite making an incredible amount of money last year, we’re tearing down the Unicorn Gundam in Tokyo. See, we don’t just hate American fans, we hate Japanese ones too.

And yesterday’s model news was, hey look at a bunch of shit we already announced and three new Gundam X High Grades. Again, despite Gundam being our most profitable franchise, you can pound sand if you want new Master Grades or Real Grades. In fact, we’ll just make this the first year since Real Grades came out that there’s no new Gundam ones, just Patlabor (which is cool, but one release a year is ridiculous).

@MolotovCupcake Sounds like they're insolvent and need to declare bankruptcy. You can't use wages you owe an employee (that you presumably let go because you couldn't pay them) to hire new writers at lower rates in the hope you'll someday make enough money to break even.
