A few magazines, past and present, funded (or once funded, typically until they are capable of self sufficiency) by the arts council:
London Review of Books
TLS
The New Review
Granta
The London Magazine
The Oldie
Art Monthly
Can’t find anything regarding Literary Review but I would be astonished if it did not at one time receive some. Ditto Art Review.
I am not criticising this by the way, as I read a number of these regularly and not without profit. However, I would love to know where one single unashamedly right-wing/reactionary arts and literary magazine exists and the size of its Arts Council grant.
@mtaibbi Cool, Matt, cool. Are you going to comment at all on the fact that Trump's appointed head of intelligence was a card-carrying member of the lollipop guild. It seems to me a pretty big story and you once had an interest in the danger of the intelligence services being compromised
Went on for weeks about the supposed rot inside the intelligence service. Then when it turns out a totally brainwashed and deeply compromised cult member held the reigns, he's onto other things. Incredible journalism
It's sort of odd that he's getting so worked up about this and yet is completely mute on the Tulsi Gabbard fiasco. I don't know anything about his politics really but clearly his journalistic radar is tuned to a lower frequency these days.
Im really looking forward to having to pass political litmus tests on foreign policy issues to get coffee in America. We’ve gone too long allowing just anyone to buy stuff
I play the music of the universe. If humans should one day hear the sounds of cosmic beings from different worlds, their music will sound familiar, because they will have heard Sun Ra on earth.
