I spent nearly 20 years doing almost nothing athletic.
At 38, I walked into CrossFit overweight, out of shape, and worried I would embarrass myself.
Four years later, at 42, I qualified for the @CrossFitGames and finished third.
Five years after starting, at 43, I won my first title.
People tell that story like it was a sudden transformation. It was not.
The early years were messy. I trained too hard. I got injured. I made food and recovery mistakes. I had to rebuild the way I thought about progress.
Starting late did not give me permission to rush. It made patience more important.
You can change your trajectory quickly. You still have to respect the time it takes to become someone different.
