The scientists are not okay
I'm organizing a late-breaking AGU Panel to discuss increasingly common threats to scientists & academics, how we cope/respond, & the role of our institutions.
If you would consider serving as a panelist, please DM me. More details in 🧵
@CaitlinAGrady I help my students to find a couple of extra small scholarships. I also have a student that is part time interning at a federal agency that pays at a much higher rate than academia.
@LHLogan1 I like to do extended office hours and let students drop in. It removes the nightmare of scheduling 20 meetings in a one week period.
Students that can't make that time can schedule a meeting via email.
My meetings with students last between 10 min. to an hour.
Shouting in the dark. And no one heard. For you, Tom. For your family. For the Department of Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences. For the University of Arizona you loved and were so proud of.

Our 2022 hard hat event is next week on the 19th. It starts at 5:00 PM in Heritage Hall and will include work from our senior design teams.
Hope to see you there!
Like all of you, we are shocked and saddened to learn of Tom Meixner’s senseless death. Tom was a CUAHSI Representative for the Univ of AZ, a long-time supporter of CUAHSI, and a friend and mentor to many of us. We wish healing for the AZ community and for Tom’s family.
@tmeixner
Thomas Meixner came to my AGU poster when I was a PhD student, talked to me about my research for 20-30 min, and then asked me to apply to their department.
He was really nice, that was my total interaction with him, and it was so positive.
