Scholten is remarkable not because she's a Democrat calling out left-wing antisemitism, but because she's a non-Jewish Democrat calling out left-wing antisemitism.
Defenders — and some critics — of Hasan Piker just don’t get it. The issue isn’t (just) that he lumps all Jews together and holds us all accountable for the supposed evils of Israel. It’s that his nonstop drive to demonize the world’s sole Jewish state, along with those who support its survival, crosses the line — by miles — between criticism and Jew hatred of the ancient variety.
Also, Mr. Piker, Zionism is in fact bound up with Judaism. It is not “false conflation.” Yes, some Jews are anti-Zionists. And yes, you have helped turned the Z-word into a slur such that large numbers of Jews, particularly younger ones, disown it partly out of misunderstanding. But when Jews are attacked for supporting Israel, they are being attacked for a core part of their Jewish identity. It is Jew hatred, it is unacceptable, and your rhetoric encourages it. Spare us all your taxonomy of good Jews and bad Jews.
NEW: Mamdani's messy, confounding, rushed rollout of his inaugural Pied-à-Terre Tax begs the question: is he working towards 100% compliance? Or is he more intent on exposing and punishing New York homeowners with a process that few, if any, understand? My latest: https://t.co/jg3crlsePO
New: Amid this week’s revelation that a DSA leader lives in a $1.5M home, I visited the anarchist Williamsburg bookstore Property is Theft to see how their patrons are taking the news. https://t.co/bDxTaDmZJm
Turns out, when @unionGustavo was profiled by the NYT he lied about living in his $1.5M nepo-home in Brooklyn.
When The Post broke news about him living in the $1.4M gut-job in Bed-Stuy, NYT reached back out for answers.
The DSA co-chair then ghost the reporter.
An mRNA vaccine showed landmark results against melanoma — the deadliest form of skin cancer. This is the same mRNA science that anti-vax RFK Jr. spent years trying to destroy. Imagine where we would be if he’d succeeded.
StopAntisemitism is shocked to hear that a man driving a @pbcgov building-services truck allegedly yelled “Heil Hitler” at a Jewish driver before throwing up a Nazi salute.
This is deeply disturbing and warrants immediate investigation & accountability.
"We are in the dox days of August." NYC brokers are pushing back on the pied-à-terre tax rollout after 950,000-plus homeowner addresses were published. Here's why:
959,710 names. Downloadable. A gift to every fraudster and scammer on the planet. We did the math: pulling them one at a time takes 15 years…that’s 498 Scaramuccis. The city did it in 2 clicks.
Yesterday they didn’t show up to answer why.
We did.
As a kid growing up on Long Island in the 1990s, @njburkett7 of @ABC7NY was my favorite NY reporter. We actually met in 1994 on election night. Today, he introduced himself to me at our press conference. I tried to contain my fandom. Tried.
The city’s tax on luxury second homes faced scrutiny during a City Council hearing on Tuesday after property owners voiced concerns over how it was being rolled out.
New Yorkers who testified said the rollout has been confusing and unfair.
Some of the criticism was directed at the publication of a “master list” of around 900,000 names and addresses that could have been subjected to the tax. Only a small number of homeowners on the list are expected to be taxed.
No member of the Mamdani administration was present at the hearing, citing an ongoing lawsuit. The head of the city’s Department of Finance provided a statement that disputed the frustration with the publishing of the master list.
@BrandonWC To be clear we were not protesting the pied-a-terre tax today, only the implantation of it and the flaws in its roll out, which the city council also agreed with us on.
