@2024dion @DrewMitrisin Doing some quick math, if Overland Park had Lee's Summit's sales tax rate, it could eliminate its entire city mill levy (to be clear that would be completely reckless, just shows the scale of the difference)

@2024dion @DrewMitrisin Missouri state rate is more than 2% lower at 4.225%. Gives cities/counties more political/psychological ability to have their own rates higher. OP's city rate is 1.375%, Lee's Summit is 2.75%.

@2024dion @DrewMitrisin Yeah, in KS industrial revenue bonds are usually just a mechanism to achieve a sales tax exemption on construction materials, not "actual" bonds. The actual amount of sales tax saved can be on spending up to that amount, but only on actual eligible spending.
