Two ways to bring change: manipulation & incarnation.
One is quick, needs incentive, starts big but diminishes, thinks impact, centers outcome.
The other is slow, needs relationship, starts small but grows, thinks influence, centers healing.
Both are effective. One sticks.
“Therefore, it is better to have little learning with humility than great learning and great pleasure in it; it is better to have a little learning with grace than much learning of which you are proud.”
- Thomas à Kempis
@konyarg Very kind brother. If I’ve ever hit a home run, it’s cause I was born on third base.
Really great to have connected at Lee’s before I left town. Much love!
A couple Sundays ago I witnessed by father’s installation as the new senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Laurel, Mississippi. It was an opportunity unlike any I’ve ever had: to preach *at* my dad. Ironically, everything I shared with him, I learned from him.

"Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." - Galatians 6:2
One of the most beautifully succinct and oft neglected summaries of the Christian life.
In the words of Anne Lamott "Bird by bird."
In the words of Eugene Peterson "A long obedience in the same direction."
In the words of Jesus "seek first the kingdom of God & his righteousness and all these things will be added..."

“Rather than living in fear of death, we should see death as spiritual smelling salts that will awaken us out of our false belief that we will live forever. … everything in life is temporary except for His love. This is reality.” @timkellernyc / On Death

May the Heavenly Father bring great comfort to his family.
Timothy J. Keller, husband, father, grandfather, mentor, friend, pastor, and scholar died this morning at home. Dad waited until he was alone with Mom. She kissed him on the forehead and he breathed his last breath. We take comfort in some of his last words...
