This is a primary example of how we have taken for granted the rich blessings God has bestowed upon us and our country. Those who trash our country do so within the context of the peace and safety built on the fear of God. If we do not collectively turn away from our culture's evil practices, then our country will descend into the depths of evil most of the rest of the world experiences every day.
We must remind our fellow citizens that the life we live in peace is not some happy accident. It has been built on the blood and sacrifice of countless patriots who feared the Lord and wanted better for their fellow citizens. One of the greatest lines from Ronald Reagan is that "freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same."
Yes, I know we still have many deep divisions in our country and I pray that the Lord will heal them. However, the many videos like this emerging from foreign visitors reminds me we still have it so, so good. I hope we can all be reminded of this and use it as common ground to once again fear the Lord, repent of our sins, and enjoy the blessings that come from faithful obedience.
Itβs good remember what we have and how easily it can be destroyed.
Imagine the experience this man would have in Los Angeles or Minneapolis. It would be much more familiar to him.
Or, the 25% of people on the other side of this issue can choose to go to another convention if they feel that strongly about it. Why do they need to conform this one to their beliefs? This has been the position of the SBC since its founding. This was a reaffirmation of that.
The 75% are not throwing anyone out. The 25% are the ones pushing themselves in. Are you suggesting the 75% should just let them and are wrong to push back?
@AdamPage85@WillyRice It's a stark change from his sermon at the 2021 annual meeting in which he chastised people for their tone towards fellow believers.
I have enjoyed seeing his eyes opened and his humility in recognizing that there was truth in the claims he thought were just divisive rhetoric.
@MattWalshBlog There is something particularly strange about the attacks on her. They are coordinated and boosted on several platforms. Someone is paying lots of money to fuel all of this.
While I think many real people have been caught up in it, I think a lot is fake driven by bots.
@farmingandJesus I do think there is something to the theory that Jesus was referencing the Feast of Trumpets, but I think it's a stretch to be certain that this is the year. All of this assumes a certain eschatology too. The theory can be true and it still not occur for seven more years.
God is being merciful to us as a nation and we do not deserve it. We cannot ask for God's blessings without also repenting for the evil we allow, and even promote, in our nation.
We can no longer tolerate calling evil good. We must boldly call it what it is and root it out.
@megbasham@DrFrankTurek I can hardly believe my ears to hear people like Tulsi Gabbard and RFK proclaim the word of God. What is happening can only be explained as a work of the Spirit.
The best way to defeat your enemy is by making him your brother.
That happens by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, and your enemy comes to faith and into the family of God.
@Shanraal@forestdweller85@JDVance My original point in posting what I did is that the Pope is a fallible man like any other and is susceptible to the same radical ideology that drove the shooter. We don't know a lot about Pope Leo yet but early signs suggest he is at least as radical as Francis, perhaps more.
@mattklewis@DavidBahnsen Because so very few of the people with enough years to know better had the courage to actually stand up and address the issues Charlie was wise enough to see as an 18 year old.
Weak men left a vacuum that created the Charlie Kirk the world has come to know.
The Overton Window shifted back to the right dramatically when @elonmusk bought Twitter and they hated him for it.
The window is going to shift even more dramatically now because their hate for anything and anyone rational has been laid bare for all to see and many are seeing it for the first time.
I think the assassination of Charlie Kirk presents real problems for the so-called Christian Nationalist crowd.
Charlie Kirk was effective not because he "owned the libs" or talked down to people. He was effective because even in sharp disagreement, he was respectful and treated people as God's image bearers. The gospel was woven throughout everything he said. People hated that they couldn't hate him for hating. They could only hate him because they also hate the truth.
Be honest with yourselves. Can you say the same thing about your own words. I certainly haven't seen it. If you truly want to fight for the Lord and win this nation for Christ, we have been given only one weapon to do so. That is the gospel.
