You know the Big Lake is in a mood when the waves crashing against the 53-foot Muskegon Breakwater Light are nearly twice its size.

Gale-force wind season will soon be upon us again, and with it comes some of the most powerful and breathtaking scenes Lake Michigan has to offer.

The colors at Kruse Park were absolutely popping last year! 🍂🍁 Soon, they’ll be back, painting the landscape in those beautiful shades of gold, orange, and red. I’m already looking forward to getting out there and capturing some incredible fall color photos! 📸🍁

Kruse Park has quickly become one of my favorite spots to watch the sunset. There’s just something special about the combination of Lake Michigan, the shoreline, and those beautiful evening skies. It never seems to disappoint. 💙🌊

The sunrays didn’t last long last night, but when they reached their peak, they put on a truly beautiful show. There’s something so incredible about watching those rays break through the clouds and light up Lake Michigan. 🌅✨

Happy first day of fall! 🍂🦌

During my hike yesterday, I got the unmistakable feeling that something was watching me. I looked to my right, and standing not more than 7 feet away was this beautiful deer, quietly scoping me out.

Nice little photo bomb by these geese! 🪿📸

As I was trying to photograph the crows perched in the tree, these geese decided they weren’t going to allow that. Instead, they flew right into the shot and made themselves the stars of the photo! 😂🪿

Did you know Michigan is home to 8 different species of woodpeckers? 🐦🌲

The one pictured below is the Pileated Woodpecker, Michigan’s largest woodpecker.

This beauty was ready to do what woodpeckers do best—go to work on a tree! 🌳

One of my favorite spots in P.J. Hoffmaster State Park is right here, where Little Black Creek flows into Lake Michigan. There’s something so peaceful about watching the creek wind through the dunes before meeting the big lake. 🌊🌲📸

The City of Ann Arbor is home to more than 75 trails, offering more than 566 miles to explore and plenty of breathtaking scenery along the way. My adventure took me through Bandemer Park and along the Huron River, with beautiful views around every turn. 🌲🥾📸

My favorite kind of sunset is a fire sunset. There’s just something about the sky glowing like lava that makes it absolutely incredible. When the clouds light up with those deep reds, oranges, and yellows, it creates a scene that’s hard to beat. 🔥🌅

While visiting Ludington, I came across this bald eagle resting near the shoreline of Lake Michigan. I don’t often get to see them perched like this, so it was a pretty incredible experience.
