We’ve got a generation of smart, driven young people who’ve been told their only path to success is a university degree and a desk job. Meanwhile, we’ve got an entire industry crying out for electricians, plumbers, HVAC techs, framers, and more. This has to change.

Look, I love Band of Brothers, and I think what Captain Winters did was exceptional.
But this idea that he was the only legendary soldier on the Allied side has got to stop.
If you want to learn about a legend who didn’t serve with Easy Company, look no further than this man:
Major David Vivian Currie: an armoured officer from the South Alberta Regiment, part of 4th Canadian Armoured Division.
By most accounts, Currie wasn’t extraordinary. He didn’t have rare tactical genius or the makings of a battlefield prodigy. What he had was courage and relentless determination.
So when he was ordered to take his squadron of Shermans and a company of infantry and hold the crossing at St. Lambert-sur-Dives, any ordinary commander would have called it suicide.
Facing him were the shattered remnants of the German Army fleeing the Falaise Gap.
Currie’s force should have been a speed bump. Under a lesser man, it might have been.
But for three sleepless nights, he held the line rallying his men, fighting tooth and nail to hold his ground.
Talk about Winters all you like. But remember, there were many more heroes out there worth knowing.
If you want to find out what Currie did in late August '44 you can check out this story map we made a couple of years ago: https://t.co/R0JQkKC4Eg
