Tell us about your College Football experience?
I really enjoyed my college football experience and I’ll forever be grateful that Juniata gave me the opportunity to be a part of their program. I played for three different head coaches at Juniata as the program has been trying to get itself back on track. I didn’t win many games in my career, but I wanted to be a part of the change and finish what I started. I made some amazing friendships that will last a lifetime and I enjoyed getting to share the field with my brothers, even if we didn’t always get the result that we had hoped for.
When you look back at your college career, what is one game that stands out from the rest and brought out the overall best in you as a player?
There are a lot of games that stand out to me as I reflect on my college career, but one that really brought out the best in me as a player was when we played Gettysburg my freshman year. In the first half of that game I recorded my first college tackle and saved a punt from going into the endzone and being a touchback. This game really grew my confidence as a college football player and showed me that I had the opportunity to do some special things in my career.
When you look back on your college playing career, can you name a time where you overcame adversity and what did you learn from the ordeal?
Honestly, I think I’ve dealt with some form of adversity throughout the entirety of my college playing career. Between having three head coaching changes, losing 36 games, the COVID-19 pandemic, and loss of several family members during seasons, it hasn’t always been an easy road. I learned however, that I can only control the things that I can control. I attacked everything I did with 100% effort and kept faith that things would always work out the way they’re meant to and that’s something that will stick with me for the rest of my life.
When you look at your style of play, what would be your biggest trait you possess and what is one area you are always improving on a daily basis?
The biggest trait that I possess is my passion for the game and my job as a long snapper. While the position may not always get a lot of love, I take pride in what I do and that can be seen in my style of play. I play with a lot of heart and give everything I have to make a positive impact every time I step on the field. Something that I'm always looking to improve on is transitioning from the snap to block. While I do both well, I'm always working to make this transition as smooth as possible to get on my block quickly.
What do you look for when watching game film? And what would you like draft scouts to look at when watching your game film?
When watching film, I look at the way the opposing teams line up and where they tend to bring pressure. I also watch opposing returners to see how they move and see if they have any tendencies. I’m always ready for anything out on the field but this helps me get to know my opponent and gives me confidence going into games. When scouts watch my game film, I hope that they notice not just my ability to snap a consistent ball, but also the effort and physicality that I play with.
How do you stand out from other draft prospects at your position?
I think my athleticism and physical play is what makes me stand out from other snappers. When you look at long snappers going into the draft, everyone has the ability to snap a good ball. It’s what I do after the snap that separates me from others. I take pride in not just starting the play, but finishing it too.
If you could compare yourself to any current pro football athlete, who would it be and why?
There’s a lot of outstanding long snappers currently in the NFL and I’m not really sure who I’d compare myself to. I try to learn from other snappers and see what they do well and how I can maybe apply that to my game, but I don’t like to compare myself to other players. I try to stay focused on improving each day and making a name for myself.
What is your final pitch to pro football general managers and draft scouts?
I’m a high character player that has an underdog mentality. Despite playing at a small school, I believe that I have what it takes to play at the professional level. Through my leadership, work-ethic, and physical play style, I’m confident that I can leave a positive impact on any team that would be willing to give me the opportunity.
