@Combatfilosof @Forbes It is certainly true that illegal gambling is undesirable but with more people engaging in legal gambling, I believe there is data showing athletes, coaches, and referees are under increasing attack. I think all will agree this is undesirable and athletes deserve protection?
@Combatfilosof @Forbes Athletes-college and pro- are under tremendous pressure and face many challenges. I believe the recent expansion of legal sports betting places yet one more threat they must face from those who place, and lose, wagers and who have broad access to social media.
Of course "college" is worth it. We have known this for centuries. Education is a universal good, even when it doesn't produce specific economic benefits- which it almost always does.

@brandcritic All staff and non-union faculty get 2% raise. All faculty now subject to the collective bargaining agreement do not get a raise until the agreement is eventually finalized.... Which may be a long while and may or may not be better than that.
