9 Poh (December 23, 1705) dawned in silence after the storm of Chamkaur. The battlefield was behind him, his elder sons had attained Shaheedi, and the Khalsa had obeyed its own command: the Guru had survived.

After leaving Chamkaur on the night of 8 Poh, Guru Gobind Singh Ji wandered through forests and fields with only three companions - 𝑩𝒉𝒂𝒊 𝑫𝒂𝒚𝒂 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒉 𝑱𝒊, 𝑩𝒉𝒂𝒊 𝑫𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒎 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒉 𝑱𝒊, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑩𝒉𝒂𝒊 𝑴𝒂𝒏 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒉.

Mughal patrols scoured the region under orders from Wazir Khan of Sirhind, announcing heavy rewards for the Guru’s capture.

Exhausted, wounded, and hungry, Guru Sahib reached Machhiwara, moving from house to house in secrecy.

It was here that two Muslim devotees, Nabi Khan and Gani Khan, risked their lives to shelter him.

Disguising the Guru as a Pir named “Uch da Pir”, they placed him on a cot and carried him through enemy checkpoints - while soldiers stood just feet away.

That night in the Machhiwara jungle, Guru Gobind Singh Ji composed the immortal “Mittar Pyare Nu” - not a cry of defeat, but a letter of longing and divine intimacy.
