At about 02:50, members were conducting patrols along the D4040 road at Ga-Rampheri when they spotted a white Mercedes-Benz, travelling at a high speed and appeared suspicious, prompting the police to signal the driver to stop.
The driver, however, failed to stop and a pursuit ensued. The members pursued the vehicle until it reached a filling station at Ga-Chuene, within the Lebowakgomo policing area. The driver subsequently abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into the nearby bushes.
The police attempted to pursue the suspect but he managed to evade arrest. Members from SAPS Lebowakgomo were then summoned to the scene.
Upon searching the abandoned vehicle, police discovered a quantity of illicit cigarettes, which were seized including the suspect's vehicle. #StopIllicitTrade ML

The South African Police Service (#SAPS) in Limpopo continues to intensify operations aimed at disrupting the illegal trafficking of drugs following the arrest of two foreign nationals and the seizure of dagga worth approximately R1.5 million at Baobab Tollgate in the Vhembe District.
On Friday, 18 September 2026, at approximately 11:00, members of the Beitbridge Port of Entry Task team, were conducting a roadblock at Baobab Tollgate when they stopped a white Toyota Hilux bearing and fitted with a canopy.
The vehicle was driven by a 32-year-old man, accompanied by a 41-year-old passenger. Both individuals are foreign nationals from Tanzania.
During the inspection, the driver and passenger indicated that they did not have the keys to the canopy's padlock. This raised suspicion among the police members, who instructed them to proceed to the Beitbridge border facility for further inspection.
Upon arrival at the border, the officers opened the canopy in the presence of the occupants, leading to the discovery of 33 bags containing dagga weighing 991.5 kilograms, with an estimated street value of approximately R1.5 million.
Both suspects were arrested and are expected to appear before the Musina Magistrate's Court on Monday, 21 September 2026, facing charges relating to dealing in dagga.
The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lieutenant General Jan Scheepers, commended the members for their vigilance and operational alertness.
“Vigilance and teamwork remain our strongest weapons against #DrugTrafficking,” said Lieutenant General Scheepers.

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) is urgently requesting the assistance of the public in locating a #WANTED suspect, Cardoso Missuque (36), who failed to appear before the Standerton Regional Court on 17 July 2026, after he was released on bail.
Missuque was previously remanded in custody awaiting trial for his alleged primary role in a massive, multi-million-rand clandestine Mandrax manufacturing laboratory uncovered in shipping containers underground at Rooikoppen Farm, Standerton, in April 2025. He was later granted bail.

Eskom spent almost R1 billion on the Ogies Housing Project in Mpumalanga, a housing development near Kusile Power Station that was never completed and has never housed a single worker, leaving 366 flats empty and abandoned.
The project was supposed to reduce Eskom’s transport costs by allowing workers to live near the power station rather than being transported to and from the site.
Construction was halted before the development could be completed, with Eskom attributing the failure to extreme project mismanagement and poor contract performance.
The housing project was eventually put up for sale in its unfinished state after Eskom determined that it had no use for the development. However, the utility was unable to find a buyer.
Kusile was originally scheduled for completion in 2017 at an estimated cost of R121 billion. Eskom said in its 2026 annual report that the project is now expected to be completed in 2028 at a total cost of R233.4 billion.

INTELLIGENCE-DRIVEN OPERATION LEADS TO ARREST OF SUSPECT FOR DEALING IN ILLICIT CIGARETTES IN MODJADJISKLOOF
A multidisciplinary operation comprising members of the Mopani Tracking Team, Hoshani Security and the K9 Anti-Hijacking Unit resulted in the arrest of a 41-year-old Ethiopian national for dealing in #IllicitCigarettes in the Modjadjiskloof policing area.
The successful operation followed information received from the E2 Cross Border Group regarding the possible transportation of illicit cigarettes along the R36 route.
On Thursday, 17 September 2026, at approximately 22:30, members conducted a waylay operation in the Modjadjiskloof area. During the operation, a Toyota Cross was intercepted in the Modjadjiskloof CBD.
The vehicle was driven by an Ethiopian national male suspect. Upon searching the vehicle, members discovered a consignment of suspected illicit Royal Express cigarettes.
A subsequent count revealed that the vehicle was transporting 12 boxes containing a total of 601 cartons of illicit cigarettes at an estimated value of R235 000.
The suspect was immediately arrested and charged with dealing in illicit cigarettes.
The illicit cigarettes and the vehicle used in the commission of the offence were seized.
He will appear before Kgapane Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 21 September 2026

THREE SUSPECTS LINKED TO A MURDER CASE IN ESTHER PARK-BEHIND BARS
CITY OF EKURHULENI _On Wednesday 16 September 2026 at approximately 16h20, a 41-year-old male was fatally shot, at an intersection of Parklands and Cawood Streets, in Esther Park. The suspects fled the scene in a blue VW Jetta 5 sedan and a case of murder, was opened at the Sebenza police station, for further investigations. Upon verification, the getaway vehicle, was found to be linked to two (2) other cases of hijacking and murder.
Following credible information received, a joint intelligence-driven operation, was activated comprising the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Northern Region Task Team, South African Police Service (SAPS) Crime Intelligence, and Blue Hawks Security personnel. Within 24 hours of the incident, the team worked tirelessly to track and intercept the suspects.
One suspect, was apprehended in the Spartan area, while two (2) other suspects, were arrested at the Enhlanzeni Hostel, together with the vehicle, used in commission of the crime. One (1) suspect led Officers to a house, at the Allandale Farm in Mayibuye, where a Beretta pistol with a filed-off serial number and 17 rounds of live ammunition, believed to have been used in the murder, was recovered.
The three (3) suspects have been detained and will face charges of 'possession of a suspected hijacked/robbed motor vehicle, murder, and possession of an unlicensed firearm with ammunition'.
The Chief of Police, Mr. IJ Mapiyeye, has commended the Officers for their swift response, dedication, and collaborative effort that led to the arrests.
The City of Ekurhuleni wishes to send a clear and stern warning to all perpetrators of crime. Ekurhuleni is not a haven for criminal activity. Law enforcement agencies are on the ground, working around the clock to root out these senseless and heinous crimes committed in the City. Those responsible will face the full might of the law.
