There are two big families: passive and active components.
Mastering the difference lets you read any circuit like a pro.

🟤 Passive Components: They don’t amplify or control

They don’t generate energy, and they can’t amplify signals.
They only shape, store, or filter what comes in.

Examples:
•Resistors (R): limit current
•Capacitors (C): store charge, smooth noise
•Inductors (L): oppose changes in current, filter signals
•Coils, transformers, ferrite beads

Behavior:
→ “Follow the flow,” don’t control it
→ Always obey linear laws (Ohm’s Law, reactance, etc.)

🔵 Active Components :The ones that control, amplify, and decide

They generate, amplify, or modify signals using external power.
These are the “brains” of the circuit.

Examples:
•Transistors (BJT, MOSFET): switching and amplification
•Diodes: rectification, protection, direction control
•Voltage regulators: keep voltage stable
•ICs: microcontrollers, logic gates, op-amps, etc.

Behavior:
→ Can amplify, switch, regulate, rectify
→ Require external power or bias to function
