@capt_morgan00 @PinguCapital So if we accept this country needs tax to keep the wheels churning. Would you rather tax people who got $8m in assets, presumably by using super as a tax haven in the first place or tax the young people starting their careers who can barely afford a place to lay their heads?
@ScottCarlyle13@newscomauHQ Because the system fell over last year and the debts got indexed by a whopping 7.1%, which was a big windfall gain to the government. They have just reverted to a fairer indexation level retrospectively.
@aliceleung Interested to hear anyone's plans for closing all the private schools in particular addressing, 1. How all the private school kids are going to fit into public schools (private school premises are privately owned) and 2. How the state government is going to find an extra $10k pp
@aliceleung Remember 2021, the comparison year, year 12s had remote learning for 1/3 of the 3 terms they spend at school. This doesn't seem like a good year to assess the way things are. There was a huge disparity in home schooling quality.
Launched today “This is Blood Cancer” with Chris Tanti of Leukaemia Foundation & Kirsty who spoke of her diagnosis at age 8 & Sabrina whose sister Summer recently passed away at age 24. About 20k people will be diagnosed across Oz this year. (new support line is 1800 620 420)
Thank you so much @JohnnyDeppNFT for your generosity in helping support @PCHFWA and WA sick kids. These funds will make a significant impact in helping keep @PerthChildrens world-class for our children and families ❤

We are at the start of a 3rd COVID-19 Omicron wave and expect to see a significant rise in cases. Please continue to do the little things: stay home when unwell, test if you have symptoms & stay up to date with your vaccinations. More https://t.co/EepD4eSeb9
@mikey9t8t3@robertalives Very good question... if it was alive in the eyes of the law then certainly it should... but hey this thing is rife with cognitive dissonance and inconsistency.
@healthhavwealth@avenaim@Pink As others have said, if pregnancy was highly contagious and by keeping the pregnancy you were reducing the risk of spread to others, protecting the lives of the already living, and/or helping the health system not be overwhelmed, then maybe the comparison would make any sense.
@healthhavwealth@avenaim@Pink I don't agree one bit with the comparison. But I'd be interested to know how many men protesting over mask wearing or vaccine mandates are happy to force pregnancy on women.
@kirstenappleton Can all the female scientists in the US change their focus to figuring how to make white men able to be vessels for unwanted pregnancies? Things would more equal, the government could determine on their behalf when that would occur even if it was massively inconvenient.
