Alvin walked it off Monday at Alvin High School, topping Friendswood 3-2 when Kealan Gonzalez lined a game-winning single in the bottom of the eighth to score the deciding run.

Alvin struck first in the opening inning when an error brought home a run, then made it 2-0 in the second on an RBI walk by Grayson Marek @gbmarek08 . Friendswood answered in the fifth as Noah Nelson @noah_nelson2026 doubled to center to tie it at 2-2, setting up the extra-inning finish.

On the mound, Cody Howe earned the win for Alvin with 3 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing five hits with two strikeouts and one walk. Starter Easton Burgess @Eastonb134 worked 4 1/3 innings, giving up two runs on five hits with three strikeouts and three walks. For Friendswood, left-hander Jack Herncall @jack_herncall5 allowed two unearned runs on one hit over three innings, striking out six and walking seven.

At the plate, Alvin collected one hit each from Marek, Grant Jackson, Gonzalez, and Konner Lanterman @KonnerL18 , with Gonzalez and Jaxson Smiley @JaxSmileytx09 driving in runs. Alvin’s approach stood out: nine walks, led by Gonzalez and Howe with two apiece, plus one double play turned defensively.

Friendswood outhit Alvin 11-4, getting two hits each from Landon McGuire @landonmcguire_3 , Ryan Chism @chism_ryan28 , and Nelson. Nelson finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
