When I was 18 I was called for Jury Duty and volunteered for the Grand Jury. I couldn't afford to miss work but was up for an adventure. I had a mohawk, a steady diet of Motorhead, and a healthy dose of oppositional defiance disorder.

Every single indictment (they were all non-violent and stupid) I called for jury nullification. By the end of the 3rd day the DA was fed up with me, but I felt it my civil duty to make everyone aware of what at that time I had learned about on some bootleg copy of "Don't Talk to the Police."

I haven't been able to serve on a jury since but I strongly recommend if you have the opportunity, you should definitely volunteer for grand jury where you can directly impact someone's life while also educating your fellow citizenry.
