I am proud to have been selected for Mid Ulster. I intend to work for Mid Ulster and for its future.
I hope this will encourage more young people to put their names forward.
Moreover, I hope to reinvigorate unionism within the constituency with renewed energy and activism.
📊 New survey: @uuponline Leader @JonBurrowsMLA received the highest share of 8/10+ ratings from his party’s voters of any NI party leader. Strong support and growing confidence. #JonBurrows 💪🏻
The 61.4% figure is interesting because it was obtained by simply swapping the yes/no options of the NI Life and Times survey, which yielded only 42% for the union in 2024.
You can increase the pro-UK vote by 20%, simply by asking the question the other way around.
Our Party Leader Jon Burrows MLA delivered his keynote address to the Institute of International and European Affairs in Dublin yesterday in association with the John and Pat Hume Foundation.
"Peace was the beginning. Prosperity and opportunity must be the destination."

Absolutely thrilled for my friend and @uuponline colleague, Cllr Craig Blaney, on today having the honour of becoming the Mayor of Ards and North Down 🏅
Craig will do a wonderful job of celebrating what’s best about our Borough; it’s people. 🙌
This is hugely important and I was pleased to bring this scandal to light on the floor of the Assembly last month. My colleagues and I have been pressing our own government and the government of the Irish Republic to have this outrage fully investigated.
@JonBurrowsMLA and @Diana_uup’s leadership has been a breath of fresh air, not just for the UUP, but for NI politics.
They have consistently went out and engaged with the public and listened.
Some of their loudest critics on this platform would do well to do the same.

I’m very proud of Craig, Bethany and Sandra, who will be outstanding in their new roles. Politics is about service and I know they will serve all the people in their boroughs with distinction.
The Ulster Unionist Party extends its warmest congratulations and best wishes to our elected representatives as they take on these important civic roles.
We wish Cllr Craig Blaney every success as Mayor of Ards and North Down, Cllr Bethany Carson-Ferris as Deputy Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, and Alderman Sandra Hunter as Deputy Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens.
We would also like to place on record our sincere thanks to our outgoing Mayors and Deputy Mayor for their dedication, hard work and service to their communities over the past year.
These appointments are a reflection of our representatives' commitment to public service and the communities they serve. We know Craig, Bethany and Sandra will carry out their duties with distinction, integrity and pride throughout the year ahead.
Congratulations to all three and best wishes for a successful and rewarding term in office.
Northern Ireland can be a world class powerhouse. We are already world leading in sectors such as cyber security, fintech and advanced manufacturing. Politics has to unlock the full potential of Northern Ireland instead of holding it back.
.@JonBurrowsMLA: I thought Sinn Féin’s Stormont blunders were strategic, but I increasingly fear they are down to sheer incompetence https://t.co/okfHh1AcqO https://t.co/okfHh1AcqO
Lovely to visit Cookstown yesterday & meet great people working for Northern Ireland. Women’s Aid supporting victims of domestic violence, Cookstown High School educating young people, Mid Ulster Victims Empowerment supporting victims of terrorism & Lissan Coal generating jobs.
During the Referendum I did say that the outcome of the referendum would be non-binding due to it changing only the SU policy not that of the University.
The only change will be influenced by the commissioners and following due process 🤷♂️
A little honesty goes a long way 😊
Clip @ViewFrmStormont . Instead of being unable to set a budget, we should be showing fiscal responsibility & then with credibility making a case to the government for NI to reduce corporation tax and pilot a reduction in VAT for hospitality & tourism to transform our economy.

Stewart welcomes Belfast Harbour expansion plans but warns barriers must be removed
Ulster Unionist infrastructure spokesperson John Stewart MLA has welcomed Belfast Harbour's £1.3 billion Horizons masterplan as a major vote of confidence in the Northern Ireland economy, but warned that long-standing barriers around planning and land classification continue to hold the port back from realising its full potential.
Commenting on the announcement, John Stewart MLA said:
"Belfast Harbour's £1.3 billion Horizons masterplan is a major vote of confidence in the Northern Ireland economy. With the potential to support 5,500 construction jobs and generate an estimated £12 billion for the wider economy, it is exactly the kind of long-term, strategic investment our region needs from a port that already handles 70% of our seaborne trade.
"However, real barriers remain. The planning system continues to be a significant drag on infrastructure delivery, and the ONS classification of our Trust Ports as public corporations restricts their ability to borrow prudently to fund the very projects this masterplan depends on. Scotland resolved this issue a decade ago. Northern Ireland cannot afford to keep falling behind.
“I have challenged the Department many times in recent months on the continued delays to the Ports Bill, and I am pleased that it is finally now making its way to the Executive in early June and is expected to reach the Assembly just before summer recess. That timeline must be held to, so Belfast Harbour and the wider trust port network can get on with growing our economy."
@SAULBADMAN1 Yes but you didn’t scrutinise me though, did you? You just spouted off your thoughts on the UUP, while I highlighted someone who sent me threatening racist abuse, has been identified by the police.
Two years ago, I received deplorable racist abuse on this platform because I dared to stand for election.
I’m pleased to know that at least one of those responsible has now been identified by the police.
A word to the bots; you can’t hide forever.
