I kind of expected this to turn up a lot of decent movies that came from absolute garbage books, but it turns out that an awful lot of you just hate literature.
I'm tired and sıck of people saying: “the book was better than the movie.” Give me a movie that was actually WAY BETTER than the book. I want to know which books were so bad that Hollywood had to save them.
@Buckldbuttercup@turbo_sloot@magi_jay No, "I'm sorry you feel that way" is a non-apology and isn't inherently problematic if the speaker doesn't have something to apologize for . Gaslighting involves clearcut lying.
@FilmsFallout No, I mean I found it fun to play. I liked the experience of putting together gear from scratch.
I will admit that I've also modded it extensively.
@magi_jay@DrewSav I really don't think he's being sexist, I think he actually believes, somewhat reasonably, that AES has no connection to the twitter trolls annoying you.
Listen. This is hard for me too. But when you see someone with a bluecheck posting stuff like this, it is not a serious question. You must steel yourself and not allow them to profit off of you
@upholdreality This is the kind of thing that's only going to happen if there were enough people dying of swimming at night in that area that it was considered a problem. China's got too much coastline for that to be normal.
@stephenvmckenna@Guillutinist@mcsquared34 Russian oligarchs came into existence when the Soviet union privatized. They weren't oligarchs until they owned massive segments of the economy in a way that wasn't possible while the government owned all of the economy.
@stephenvmckenna@mcsquared34 That's not.... what any of those words mean. That's like saying "democracy is when the country is run by a dictator", just completely nonsensical.
@stephenvmckenna@mcsquared34 This is the sort of thing that's going to appear in history books as an example of oligarchical propaganda, and high school students are going to laugh and assume that no one was dumb enough to take it seriously.
@HistoryBoomer I mean, classicists are easily the people I would most expect to be fussy about adaptations of classics and whose criticism I would actually pay attention to.
