@madvillainyyy@Bounc5ack9800 @urklespaces A good example of when it failed was Celtics / Nets game 1. Big 1st half FT disparity in favor of the Nets, but it ultimately didn't work. Nets have played like garbage and should've been losing these games by 20.
@madvillainyyy@Bounc5ack9800 @urklespaces And they can't really "rig" the game. They just put their hand on the scale. It doesn't always work, but it can be pretty obvious when they tried if you look at halftime stat sheets.
@gyp_eth @couchtomato62 For ratings, narratives, etc. Now that game 5 will be 🔥🔥. It doesn't always work, mind you. They can't actually "fix" the game the way soccer refs can, but they can put their hands on the scale.
Respect to Monty Williams for calling out the FT disparity. It's completely ridiculous. 42-15. We know he's gonna get fined, but so what? I'm sick and tired of the league screwing around with these games.
@couchtomato62 @gyp_eth I get shit from people whenever I call this out. They accuse me of crying, etc etc, but the funny thing is that I mostly only call it out in games where I otherwise have no stake in it other than to watch the game. I just want to see good basketball.
@washedupRJ@jrichardgoodman He's right, though. 42-15 is stupid. Pels played hard AF and have earned a lot of this, but it's really hard to ignore that disparity.
