To add, in your defense, your neighbor is also in the wrong. Spaces on the street, in front of her house, are not private parking for her home, but generally are understood to 'belong' to the house. The homeowner is commonly, socially, expected to keep up the appearance of the space in front of their home. My neighbors expect me to keep the grass trimmed at 'my' curb, and, push comes to shove, I can also be required to repair the sidewalks in front of my house, and to the side, even though they are public. Ordinances vary, check your ordinances, but this is really a matter of common courtesy, and should not come to requiring police intervention. Again, IMO

@castlehillmom most people do not want to look out from their property at someone else's car, day after day. Short term parking for a party, a family gathering, a funeral, etc is generally well understood and accepted. Streets are public rights of way for driving, but not usually for parking, and certainly not for extended periods. There are commonly city ordinances in place to prevent cars from parking on the street for more than 24 hours, without moving the car. There are also usually ordinances that require off street parking spaces for every home's personal vehicles. Persons who park their cars in front of other people's homes for extended periods are rude, full stop.

And, if you check, there is probably a local ordinance that is actionable against you after 24 hours. You state that you were parked for 16 hours, so you were nearing the end of your 'courtesy' parking. Your neighbor jumped the gun, but you probably do not possess an absolute right to park in front of their property day after day, as you suggest.

Check your local ordinances, but first make peace, and consider the other person. A gracious apology (from you) may be in order, IMO. 🤔
