I really, really want to like the UConn football program. But they have no redeeming qualities. Can’t run. Can’t pass. Can’t tackle. No identity.

I don’t blame the kids. Need a complete overhaul of the program.

Players should select because 1. coaches tend to be in a bubble (different opinion helps) 2. coach always has authority to “adjust” captain’s duties (if necessary due to odd choice)

This was the main reason I created the Double Gun Offense. So many coaches (at all levels) run schemes they don’t fully understand. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard coaches say “if only my kids could [execute something]...they just don’t understand.”

@BrendanCahill_ Lacking corrective feedback when young, adolescents go out in the world expecting the same 1.) constant adoration, 2.) limitless behavioral boundaries, and 3.) lack of meaningful consequences.

@BrendanCahill_ The Little League site once said “Prepare your child for the path, not the path for the child”. Maladjusted children are not treated well once in the real world. The world will eventually teach/enforce what parents didn’t (in a less kind way).

@BrendanCahill_ Sports and military historically operated as a meritocracy. Talent/commitment/effort mattered.

Increasingly, external forces are diluting pure merit in sports/military by implementing flavor-of-the-month social policies.
