A tribute to my grandpa, a WW2 soldier who helped liberate a death camp and ended war on a troop train to the Battle of the Bulge but mainly farmed .. a man who liked watching Gunsmoke and playing pitch.. was read today during a session of congress of the United States.
I don’t think they serve crow at State Fair, so enjoy eating that at home. Quality is quality, a lot of hard work and quality feed and genetics show. The lamb & senior (who shows the best he can but he is in wheelchair)stripped of their county title, got the highest honor today.
This sweet little cat. I was in the middle of an anxiety attack tonight in bed when I couldn’t remember how to breathe. Tears, pounding heart, curled into a ball and uncontrollable trembling turned into a panic attack. She came running upstairs purring. Kneading on my neck.
Trying to push herds to where I can get calves weaned this weekend. Every time I have to drive groups of calves from one hedgerow to another because they insist on eating hedgeballs quick as they can like kids eat all their candy.
These things do happen but it was five years ago the last time. What a bummer, had to clean out the pressure canner and I’ll have to scrub 17 other jars of that salsa batch once they seal tomorrow.
@ClaraPLauritsen Oh sweet gal, I didn’t know, praying for you and for your continued recovery. You’re so strong in spirit your body will catch up when you’re ready. Thankful to hear you’re in remission. You’re the third of my favorite cattlewomen in the area battling rn. The cows will be there!
This little guy is going to be happy.. he graduates to the next area which is a bigger lot away from the barn with plenty of friends to do calf zoomies with and lots of places to hide on fresh grass or soft dirt away from the muddy hay bale ring areas and off barn concrete.
Dugan’s barn finally had enough of this wind and blizzard spring too as it almost took it all down. Just the lower half now. That is owned by someone else related but was one of my ancestors’ barns.
@BottomhandBlues@dalle_rutledge yeah but pulling that many calves might actually be better than dealing with it every day or every other day and just constantly being this sore mess who needs to go to a chiropractor but can’t because I need like 2 days to reorganize all my muscles and organs from being out 🤣
@ypcomchic1@ariesmamax2@PopBase I think it depends on how old the pacemaker is too, grandpa is 98 and his is supposed to end its lifespan this spring. There’s tests the company does from another state and grandma I think just hooks it up to something to send info to them. I feel like they’d know somehow right?
