1. ತಾವು ಯಾವ ಕಾನೂನಿನ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ವಜಾ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು ಎಂದು ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿ.
2. "ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ಸರಿಯಾದ ಚಿಲ್ರೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಸಹಕರಿಸಿ" ಎಂದು ಬಸ್ ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆಯುವುದು ಏಕೆ?
3. ಇನ್ನು ಮುಂದೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಕರು ಚಿಲ್ರೆ ಕೊಡದೆ ಇದ್ರೆ ಬಸ್ ಕಂಡಕ್ಟರ್ ಗಳು ಏನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕು? ಕಂಡಕ್ಟರ್ ಸುಮ್ನೆ ಕೂತ್ಕೋಬೇಕಾ ಅಥವಾ ಕೆಳಕ್ಕೆ ಇಳಿಸಬೇಕಾ? ಅದಕ್ಕೊಂದು ನಿಯಮಾವಳಿ ಇದೆಯಾ?
4. ಬಹುಶಃ ಮಂತ್ರಿಗಳು ಮೊತ್ತ ಮೊದಲ ಬಾರಿಗೆ ಬಸ್ ಪಯಣ ಮಾಡಿರಬಹುದೇನೋ?
5. ಮಂತ್ರಿಗಳು UPI ಪೇಮೆಂಟ್ ಯಾಕೆ ಮಾಡಲಿಲ್ಲ?

ಎಲ್ಲ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಕರು ಮಂತ್ರಿಗಳ ಥರಾನೇ ಚಿಲ್ರೆಗೆ ಚಿಲ್ರೆ ತರಲೆ ತೆಗೆದರೆ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಬಸ್ ಕಂಡಕ್ಟರ್ ಗಳೂ ವಜಾ ಆಗಿ ಮನೇಲಿ ಕೂತ್ಕೋತಾರೆ ಅನ್ಸುತ್ತೆ.

Celsius is superior to Fahrenheit and I’m tired of pretending this is a debate.

Celsius feels like temperature was designed by an human being who walks outside, feels the air, and says, “Yeah, that makes sense.”

Zero is freezing. 40 is brutally hot.
22 is comfortable. 25 is warm.

The numbers feel like what they are describing.

Fahrenheit feels like it was designed by a committee of people who hate joy and want every conversation about the weather to sound like a chemistry lab.

“It’s 70 degrees outside.”

What does that even mean to a normal person? Am I wearing shorts? Am I grabbing a jacket?

Nobody knows. You need a conversion chart and a government employee standing next to you explaining the vibes.

Celsius gives you range. That’s the point. It gives you more numbers for the temperatures human beings actually live in. You can feel the difference between 20, 22, 25, and 28. Those numbers matter. Celsius lets you describe the world with precision without having to use high numbers like a lunatic.

Footpath hawking is a ₹300 crore plus annual “rent” collection racket — effectively 100% bribes flowing to a well-oiled cartel of police, GBA officials, and local politicians. A genuine footpath-clearing drive threatens this cartel’s cash flow, and that’s exactly why they’re behind the protests and legal challenges. Knowingly or unknowingly, many self-styled bleeding hearts are ending up as cover for footpath encroachment.

Minister @krishnabgowda should show no mercy and extend the drive to all footpaths across Bengaluru city limits. A workable compromise: designated 100-metre hawking zones every 2 km, instead of unchecked sprawl across every footpath.

It’s extremely laudable that @krishnabgowda is clearing the muck on Bengaluru footpaths which had gathered over years of misrule.
Footpaths definitely will look clean. As a former Cop, am deeply concerned about the reactions of countless Bussiness dispossessed poor people who were eking out an honest living.
These people need to be sent to hawking zones or shandies created on Government Land.
I trust that @krishnabgowda is a sincere and sensitive leader. Many take to crime and dangerous activities if they are robbed of their possession and occupation.

The Chief Minister @CMofKarnataka @DKShivakumar warns of an unprecedented drought across Karnataka and India. The monsoon has failed in most parts of both. Reservoir storage has hit record lows, with zero inflow at many sites in Karnataka.

(As I’ve been saying for two weeks now: the situation is grim, grimmer and grimmest).

When are we going to say enough is enough ?

The role of the traffic police is to regulate traffic, enforce road safety, and issue penalties (challans) for violations.

They do not have the authority to inflict physical punishment on citizens. Any act of physical violence by an officer is a violation of the law and human rights.

Right to Due Process: If a rider fails to stop, the legal recourse for the police is to note the vehicle's registration number, track the owner, and issue a challan or summon the individual to court.

One of my strongest takeaways and observation from Norway came while standing in a queue to buy an ice cream in Bergen.

A little girl, perhaps 5 or 6 years old, was standing with her father. Excited by all the flavours on display, she instinctively stepped ahead of me to get a better look.

Very gently, her father reminded her:

“Your turn will come. Please stay in the queue.”

I smiled and offered them my place.

The father politely declined.

What struck me was not the child’s behaviour. Any excited child would do the same.

What struck me was the lesson.

“We wait because everyone else is waiting. The rule does not change because someone is being kind.”

From a very young age, children are taught to respect shared public spaces, rules and the rights of others.
Not through punishments.
Not through lectures.
Through thousands of small corrections like this by their role models who happen to be parents, the best role model a kid can have.

High trust societies are not built by governments alone.

Thousands of such tiny corrections, repeated over years, create societies where people automatically queue for buses, stop at pedestrian crossings, return library books on time and generally trust strangers.

In India, children are also taught kindness, family values and hospitality exceptionally well, but public space behaviour receives far less emphasis.

I wish that would improve.

In our group, from the beginning one lady has been shoplifting. We were not aware of it. In one of the tourist souvenir shops, she was caught. She immediately offered to pay money. The Japanese shop keeper said that they are a high trust society where stealing is rare and have great respect for India. He said more than stealing, what offended him was offering money after being caught.

In Japan, you can never see police. Crime rate is very less. Traffic discipline is very high. The shopkeeper called the police. Our tour manager accompanied that lady to police station. In police station too that lady offered money. The Japanese police was not amused.

They explained how severe the punishment is for stealing and said she needs to go to jail. But she being an Indian and they respect India a lot, she was let go with severe warning.

After renaming Tumkur as Bengaluru North (actually North West), can rename all the districts in Old Mysore region. Shimoga can be Bengaluru Malnad, Chickmagalur can be Bengaluru Beans and Kodagu can be Bengaluru Arabica, Kolar can be Bengaluru Gold etc …. Height of stupidity. When a government thinks every inch of land is just real estate, these things happen.

The rain “disasters” is a result of not holding BBMP/GBA elections for years. Corporators/City Councillors at least keep an eye on their wards. Now no one is there to see what’s happening. Sadly no MLA irrespective of his/her party wants GBA elections. Reason- More public representatives, more people to share the collection! #BengaluruRains

Vultures eat anthrax, botulism, rabies, and cholera for breakfast.

Their stomach acid is among the most corrosive in the animal kingdom, with a pH around 1, low enough to dissolve the bones, hide, and pathogens of dead animals that would kill almost anything else.

A vulture eating a diseased carcass isn't a vector for disease, it's a terminus. The disease chain ends in the vulture's gut, and that's pretty hardcore.

When vulture populations crashed in India in the 1990s, rotting livestock carcasses sat where vultures used to clean them.

Feral dogs and rats took over the cleanup, both of which actually do spread rabies. Researchers later linked the vulture collapse to roughly 500,000 deaths in India over the following decade.

The same collapse is now underway in sub-Saharan Africa. Six of eleven African vulture species are threatened with extinction, primarily from poisoned poaching baits.

The animals nobody finds cute are doing more public health work than most of the species we actively protect.
