@TimKalyegira @balmoistev When members of a specific Luo chiefdom migrated South and gained power they found it prudent to associate with the existing system to gain acceptance and establish legitimacy. They didnt create the kingdoms, they became the new ruling elite within the established structure.

@TimKalyegira @balmoistev The kingdoms predated the Luo, who only established new dynasties like the Bito within them. Unified identities like "Acholi" are recent; historically, Luo identified by clan/chiefdom. Clan migrations were local, independent actions, not done on behalf of a broader ethnic group.

With the revival of the idea of moving Uganda’s capital to Nakasongola, I revisited a video I made about 10 years ago arguing that Amolatar should be considered if a new capital were ever seriously contemplated.

@jinjacity We lived in Jinja briefly in the late 80s and there was a video library called Bashir video library, or maybe it had another name but was owned by Bashir. Getting flashbacks of movies like Delta Force, Commando, American Ninja and and entire shelf of the US soap Dallas.

I learnt today that in some parts of the world, old-school film photography is making a comeback. Actual film, not digital. It is increasingly seen as more authentic and more human in a world where AI can generate realistic digital images.

@wode_maya @HustleKing01 Borders are and have always been, set by ruling elites and/or conquerors. Never by citizen-led committees and consultations. Even pre-colonial borders, while not always as hard set, were understood and there were agreed protocols on crossing from one territory to another.

@CultonScovia Also many of the issues raised are easily sorted out by good hygienic practises. If you cannot get your son to spare 15 seconds while bathing to thoroughly wash his penis, then he has bigger problems that circumcision won't help. Keep fighting the good fight @CultonScovia

@CultonScovia Circumcision has been taken up with a fervor usually reserved for religious dogma. All the reasons given usually amount to "reducing chances of X by Y%) none of the diseases or conditions it is meant to prevent or reduce are caused by the foreskin and still occur regardless

@UEDCLTD It is 10pm. 5 hrs after the scheduled maintenance was due to be done and still no power. The least you can do is give notice of extension of the outage in advance. It's not ideal bit at least somebody can plan with that information at hand.
