Two urban battles occurred in Khorramshahr, Iran, both during the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988):
1. 22 September-10 November 1980; and
2. 24 April-24 May 1982.
Mostly dismounted personnel here; use of machine-guns, RPGs, mouseholes, loopholes.

This particular sentence was an excerpt from an eloquently written letter addressed to his mother in April 1940 during the Second World War (1939-1945).
He was killed on 31 May 1940 (86 years ago today; date on tombstone incorrect) during the battle of Dunkirk, France.
