People often frown when they’re told to learn soft-skills. There is nothing soft about it and we should quit using that term, for a very important skill to influence, to make someone see things in a different perspective.
On the subject of visibility: I think engineers overestimate how much detail is known by directors on up, and underestimate the value of their voice.
Execs make best effort decisions every day on whatever signal they happen to have. So give them some signal: *say* something.
