BLACK COMMUNITY RESPONDS: Reporter @Savsays got first insights from some of the supporters outside of the Karmelo Anthony trial.
βBetter mine than yours.β
One woman, who states that she was there to report, shared that if evidence shows that Anthony was not acting in self-defense, she does not believe the black community would accept that, stating that βthey stand by ours regardless.β
A black minister standing outside of the courthouse stated that the American justice system is the βfinal frontier of racism and itβs legalized here.β
Throughout the week, supporters of Anthony have been very tight-lipped and unwilling to speak with the media. The woman mentioned above was told to stop speaking to our reporter by one of the Black Panthers present.
Opening statements began on Thursday, and the trial will continue into next week.

A shopper walks into a retail store and scans an item at self-checkout. It rings up for $0.01. He knows βpenny itemsβ usually mean damaged or discontinued products that employees are supposed to pull from the shelves, but it was still sitting there. He pays the penny, prints the receipt, and starts to leave. An employee rushes over, frustrated, saying those items arenβt meant to be sold and should have been removed.
Penny pricing is often a system signal, not a public sale. But from a customerβs perspective, if itβs on the shelf and the register accepts payment, it feels like a completed contract. The real issue might be better inventory control because confusion at checkout only creates tension on both sides. If an item scans for a penny and the transaction goes through, should the store honor the price, or does internal policy override what the register says?
