Projects in Lagos, Campaign in Kaduna Amid Insecurity: What Will Tinubu Promise Now?
By Mohammed Bello Doka
11 October, 2026.
On December 3, 2023, a Nigerian Army drone struck Tudun Biri in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing at least 85 civilians who had gathered for a religious celebration. Among the dead were women, children, and the elderly. President Bola Tinubu did not visit. On September 2024, another military airstrike hit Giwa Local Government Area, killing at least 24 more civilians in what the military called a mistaken targeting of bandits. President Tinubu did not visit. In September 2025, bandits descended on Kachia Local Government Area and abducted 152 people in a single operation. President Tinubu did not visit. In July 2025, windstorms and heavy rainfall devastated five local government areas, displacing 6,172 people and killing six. President Tinubu did not visit. In August 2024, bandits attacked communities in Kajuru Local Government Area, killing four, injuring three, and abducting thirty-seven. President Tinubu did not visit. In September 2025, floods submerged parts of Zaria Local Government Area, affecting 476 people. President Tinubu did not visit.
Now, after three and a half years of blood, tears, and silence, the APC has chosen Kaduna as the launchpad for its 2027 presidential campaign. The same Kaduna where 85 people were buried in a mass grave after a Nigerian drone bombed them. The same Kaduna where 152 people were carted away into forests by bandits while the president was in Lagos commissioning buses. The same Kaduna where communities have been orphaned by airstrikes, emptied by kidnappings, and drowned by floods. What exactly is Tinubu coming to tell the people of Kaduna? What is he coming to promise again?
Since May 29, 2023, President Tinubu has visited Kaduna exactly twice. The first was a one-day working visit in June 2025 to commission a vocational training institute, a 300-bed specialist hospital, and 100 CNG buses, most of which were state government projects. The second was a private visit in September 2025 to attend a wedding and condole with the widow of a former president. Two visits in three and a half years. Not one of those visits was to console the victims of Tudun Biri. Not one was to visit the families of the 152 abducted in Kachia. Not one was to assess the damage in Giwa after another military misfire. Not one was to stand with the flood victims in Zaria. Not one was to confront the bandits in Kajuru. Instead, he flew to Kaduna for a wedding, shook hands, took photographs, and flew back to Abuja.
Compare that to his attention to Lagos. In Lagos, Tinubu has commissioned the first 30 kilometres of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, a project estimated at over one trillion naira. In Lagos, he has rehabilitated the Third Mainland Bridge at a cost of 43 billion naira and built a 2.5 billion naira CCTV monitoring centre. In Lagos, he inaugurated the Red Line Rail, a 37-kilometre project costing over 135 million dollars. In Lagos, he commissioned CNG infrastructure in Ojota, part of a 100 billion naira national rollout, with four major projects in a single day. In Lagos, the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano road, a project inherited from Buhari, was revoked and re-awarded at a higher cost, while the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway received 43 billion naira for phase two. Lagos is where the president's heart beats. Kaduna is where his promises go to die.
How did a notorious Boko Haram terrorist gain access to the official residence of a sitting governor?
Vice President Kashim Shettima cannot escape questions about an extraordinary incident that occurred while he governed Borno State between 2011 and 2019.
In January 2012, security operatives arrested Kabiru Sokoto, a Boko Haram operative subsequently convicted over the deadly Christmas Day 2011 bombing of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Madalla, at the Borno State Governor's Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja.
Read that again. A man subsequently convicted for his involvement in one of Nigeria's most horrifying terrorist attacks was arrested at the official lodge of the governor of the state that was the epicentre of Boko Haram's bloody insurgency.
The Shettima administration had denied knowing the suspect and attributed his presence to a serious security breach.
But an official denial does not eliminate the legitimate questions arising from such an extraordinary incident.
Who authorised access to the lodge? Who accommodated the visitors? What did subsequent investigations establish? Were any officials sanctioned? And why has the full account of this troubling episode not been placed before Nigerians?
These are questions of public accountability, not religious or ethnic prejudice.
Under Shettima's eight-year governorship, Borno witnessed some of the darkest chapters of the insurgency, including the April 2014 abduction of the Chibok schoolgirls.
Today, Shettima occupies the second-highest office in the Federal Republic.
Nigerians are entitled to ask what lessons were learned from the failures of that period and why, despite years of military operations and enormous public expenditure, terrorism continues to threaten communities in the North-East.
Nigerians deserve the full records of the Kabiru Sokoto investigation, an explanation of the security failures at the Borno Governor's Lodge, and a transparent accounting of the decisions that shaped the fight against Boko Haram.
Mr Vice President, public office does not confer immunity from difficult questions. The victims of Boko Haram deserve justice. Nigerians deserve answers. And those who governed at the height of the insurgency, including you, must be prepared to account for their stewardship, of how your actions and inactions may have enabled terrorism in our country.
The blood of innocent Nigerians must never be reduced to a footnote in the political careers of their leaders.
When Hilda Baci stood for days to put Nigeria on the world map, the entire South stood still, cheered her on, and carried her to victory on the wings of massive support.
Today, our very own brother from the North, Abdulkadir Basari, is at MAAUN Kano, pushing through a grueling 120-hour non-stop sewing marathon to break a Guinness World Record—not just for fame, but to sew uniforms for less-privileged kids!
Why is Arewa so silent? We must learn to celebrate and lift our own champions. Let’s make some noise for him! 🧵
Kaduna: No Part of Millennium City is Safe
Bandits and ‘kidnappers’ have been escalating attacks and abductions in and around Kaduna’s Millennium City neighborhood. Bandits and other gunmen operate in the area at any time, with utter impunity.
On 19 August, gunmen invaded Kyauta area and abducted over a dozen people. Abductions take place in broad daylight. In some parts of the area, people are setting up vigilantes to defend themselves while others are abandoning their homes and moving out of the area to safety.
Viral video of a family consisting of Ahmad Abubakar Zakka, his wife, and their baby daughter shows their abductors pointing AK-47 at their heads and threatening to shoot them. They were abducted on 5 October 2026, by gunmen who invaded Alrahus Estate in Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
No part of Millennium City Kaduna is safe now. People live perpetually in fear always bracing up for the next attack or abduction — or both. Some residents have to suspend the education of their children.
Incessant killings, abductions and the stunning failure of the authorities to end them and bring suspected perpetrators to justice have been and continues to be a threat to the right to life in Kaduna state.
VIDEO: Ahmed Zakka, who was abducted in Millennium City, Kaduna, is appealing for help in a heartbreaking video. He is being held alongside his wife and their baby by bandits.
A whole family in captivity, including an innocent baby😭
We hope the authorities and everyone who can help will do everything possible to secure their safe release.
Amnesty International strongly condemns the unlawful and outrageous blocking of the venue of a “Tinubu-Must-Go” event today in Kano. Heavily armed police blocked both ends of the road leading to the venue of the event.
The Nigeria Police @PoliceNG must desist from such reckless violation of human rights. It is perfectly within the rights of supporters of all candidates and all political parties to carry out peaceful political activities.
The duty of the police is to facilitate peaceful conduct of such political gatherings — no matter the political party or candidate being supported or opposed. Freedom of association and peaceful assembly is not exclusive to one political party and its supporters.
The Kano incident is part of a troubling pattern of repression by police targeting opposition members in various parts of the country. Such repeated attacks and intimidation against opposition supporters could make it more difficult for them to associate freely and hold peaceful public gatherings.
After Fajr today, I stayed in the mosque until daybreak, praying for Nigeria and for President Tinubu to succeed.
Nigeria is the only country we have. It is important that the President continues to steer the country in the right direction.
BOLA TINUBU 4+4 insha Allah

It’s honestly sad watching you and your Kaduna ADC PR bots struggle every day because you have nobody credible to sell to the people.
Let’s be clear, it’s not APC or Bashir Zuntu’s fault that your candidates are weak, unpopular, incompetent and practically unsellable to the public. Stop crying and face your real problem. Your own candidates are simply not sellable.
If you spent half the energy you waste attacking the APC on promoting your candidates, maybe people would at least find a way to sell them to the public
And as for that rubbish propaganda about APC hiding the President’s presence in Kaduna, here’s Kaduna APC putting up the President’s big campaign banners across the state.
So, please go back to your drawing board and find another lie. This one has failed already.
The abduction of 20 travellers, including prospective corps members, in Imo State is heartbreaking. Some have been rescued, but others remain in captivity. I urge the Federal and Imo State governments, and all security agencies, to act with urgency and bring everyone still being held home safely.
In Borno, more than 70 pupils and students abducted from Mussa and Lassa remain in captivity months later. These children must not be forgotten. Their families deserve clear updates, and the public deserves answers.
Tinubu promised that savings from subsidy removal would help fund security. Yet Nigerians remain exposed to kidnappers on our roads, in our communities and around our schools. Young people face danger in secondary school, struggle with unaffordable fees at university, and are now targets on their journeys to NYSC camps. This is a generation being failed at every stage.
Meanwhile, huge pipeline security contracts go to politically connected companies, while ordinary Nigerians are left to face criminals. The first duty of government is to protect lives.
While we pray for the immediate and safe rescue of every abducted young person and the return of all those still unaccounted for, my promise to build a safer and more affordable Nigeria, where young people can create, build and prosper, remains unshakable. -AA
Borno’s Escalating Political Repression
In Borno state, northeast Nigeria, 11 young men have been in Maiduguri maximum prison since 28 of August 2026. They were arraigned before Chief Magistate Court 1 in Wulari Maiduguri on the 8th September 2026:
1. Umar Sanda Mohammed
2. Yahaya Mohammed
3. Mohammed Ali
4. Abubakar Dauda
5. Hussaini Umar
6. Yunusa Salaima
7. Sulaiman Mohammed
8. Liti Adamu
9. Idris Yusuf
10. Mohammed Ali
11. Warrata, Na Hannun Gomna, Yambo and One Five.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) they are charged “over conducts said to include interrupting, shouting at and embarrassing government officials while they were delivering a speech.” Amnesty International believes the charges are politically motivated.
These bizarre charges and actions that followed have all the elements of political repression and abuse of power, as well as undermining the right to personal liberty, presumption of innocence, fair hearing, freedom of expression and the right to peaceful dissent.
The increasing clampdown on peaceful dissent in Borno state is disturbing. How governments tolerate unfavourable views or critical voices is often a good indication of how they treat human rights generally.

ADC PCC Tackles Shettima Over Claim Tinubu Saved Nigeria From Collapse
The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADCPCC) has taken a swipe at Vice President Kashim Shettima’s claim that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu saved Nigeria from economic collapse, arguing that the current administration cannot disown the record of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The council said Shettima’s assertion that Nigeria was heading towards “Caracas” before Tinubu assumed office was an indictment of the Buhari administration, which, like the Tinubu government, was elected on the platform of the APC.
The reaction was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the Director of Media and Publicity of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Kola Ologbondiyan.
Ologbondiyan said Shettima, in an attempt to defend what he described as the abysmal failures of the Tinubu administration, had resorted to rewriting the history of the APC.
He said if Nigeria was indeed heading towards economic collapse before Tinubu took office, as claimed by the Vice President, then the APC must accept responsibility for the situation because it controlled the Federal Government for eight years under Buhari.
“Vice President Shettima’s statement is self-indicting. If Nigeria was heading to Caracas under Buhari, it means Buhari and the APC deceived Nigerians for eight years.
“And if that is the case, why should Nigerians believe Tinubu, who is of the same APC stock and was a major promoter and defender of the Buhari administration?” Ologbondiyan queried.
He said the APC could not disown its own record, recalling that Tinubu had repeatedly defended the Buhari administration and assured Nigerians that his government would build on Buhari’s legacy.
According to him, the attempts by Tinubu and Shettima to distance the present administration from Buhari amount to an admission that the APC has failed Nigerians.
“But Nigerians do not know Buhari as an individual; Nigerians know APC. It is the APC, on whose platform President Tinubu is seeking a second term, that has failed Nigerians for almost 12 years and is undeserving of another four years,” he said.
Ologbondiyan accused the APC government of failing across several sectors, citing the state of roads, electricity, public institutions and the rising cost of living.
He said the immediate concern of Nigerians was not political propaganda but access to affordable food and basic necessities.
“Our roads are no longer motorable, there is no electricity, our institutions have collapsed. But what concerns ordinary Nigerians today is food, food and food, not baseless propaganda.
“President Tinubu has not saved Nigeria from collapse; he has pushed the country deeper into economic ruin, marked by unprecedented hunger, hyperinflation, naira devaluation, insecurity, mass unemployment and excruciating cost of living,” he said.
The ADC campaign council spokesman further argued that Nigerians were already experiencing what Shettima described as the “Caracas” scenario, not merely heading towards it.
“Nigerians are not heading to Caracas; under the APC, Nigerians are already living the Caracas experience in their own country,” Ologbondiyan said.
He also faulted Shettima’s promise to deploy 10,600 electric tricycles, 300 buses and electric taxis under an e-logistics programme “in the coming weeks”, describing it as another promise that Nigerians should treat with caution.
Ologbondiyan reminded the Vice President of the administration’s earlier promise that transportation costs would come down by October 1, 2026, asking Nigerians to judge the government by its delivery rather than fresh promises.
The ADCPCC urged Shettima and the APC to stop what it described as attempts to insult the sensibilities of Nigerians through revisionist narratives and instead acknowledge the challenges confronting the country.

ADC PCC Condemns APC Over AK-47 Threat, Says Party Plotting Violence Ahead of 2027
— Demands Police, DSS, INEC Probe Edo APC Chairman; Condemns Attack on ADC Members in Kogi
The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC PCC) has condemned the threat by the Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jarrett Tenebe, to deploy AK-47 rifles against anyone who attempts to deny the party the 2.5 million votes it has promised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The ADC PCC also condemned the reported attack on members of the ADC and destruction of vehicles belonging to party supporters at Gegu in Koton Karfi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The council described the alleged threat and the Kogi incident as acts of intimidation and political violence capable of undermining the 2027 general elections.
The Director of Media and Publicity of the ADC PCC, Kola Ologbondiyan, stated this in a statement issued on Sunday.
Ologbondiyan said Tenebe's alleged plot was “inciting” and “terroristic,” arguing that it amounted to an attempt to intimidate voters and create an atmosphere of fear ahead of the 2027 elections.
He said the council had waited for the APC leadership and President Tinubu to condemn or demand a retraction of the statement but received no such response.
“We are shocked that a state chairman of a ruling party, Mr. Jarrett Tenebe, can stand before the public and threaten Nigerians with AK-47 rifles if they refuse to vote for his party, the APC.
“This is terrorism, and not politics. This is the height of desperation by a party that has failed Nigerians woefully,”Ologbondiyan said.
He further alleged that since President Tinubu's reported statement that “all is fair in politics,” some APC members had increasingly resorted to intimidation, harassment and violations of the law.
Ologbondiyan argued that the APC could not legitimately secure 2.5 million votes in Edo State through a free, fair and credible electoral process, describing Edo voters as politically sophisticated and increasingly dissatisfied with what he called the hardship and insecurity under the APC administration.
He said the threat to use AK-47 rifles against voters was a violation of the Electoral Act and the Constitution and should be investigated by the relevant authorities.
According to him, the alleged statement had further reinforced concerns that the APC might resort to violence and intimidation in its bid to retain power in 2027.
The ADC PCC therefore called on the Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to invite Tenebe for questioning over the alleged threat.
The council also appealed to the international community, including the United Nations, European Union, African Union, ECOWAS, the United States and other democratic countries, to monitor developments ahead of the 2027 elections and prevail on the Federal Government and the APC to ensure a peaceful and credible electoral process.
Ologbondiyan said the 2027 election would be “a referendum” on the performance of the APC-led administration, insisting that no amount of intimidation or threats would stop Nigerians from exercising their constitutional right to vote.
On the reported attack on ADC members in Gegu, Koton Karfi Local Government Area of Kogi State, the ADC PCC urged security agencies to identify and prosecute those responsible.
“We call on the members of our Kogi State chapter, particularly in Koton Karfi Local Government, to name everyone they identified in the course of the needless attack,” Ologbondiyan said.
He urged the security agencies to thoroughly investigate the incident and ensure that those found culpable were brought to justice.
Signed:
Kola Ologbondiyan
Director, Media and Publicity
ADC Presidential Campaign Council.
