Remembering Prodigy of Mobb Deep on his heavenly birthday 🕊️🎂
Born in Hempstead and raised in Queensbridge, Prodigy helped put Queensbridge on the hip-hop map. He and Havoc came up together in New York and rose to fame with Mobb Deep’s raw, unmistakable sound and classics like “Shook Ones, Pt. II” and “Survival of the Fittest.”
Their landmark albums The Infamous and Murda Muzik both earned platinum status, cementing Mobb Deep’s place in hip-hop history. Prodigy passed away on June 20, 2017, at 42. He would have turned 52 today. 🖤
Danny D reveals about his early days in entertainment industry and explains how he got his start doing solo content before gradually moving into other types of performance.
He says that he initially explored the “Gay for Pay” side of the industry, even though it wasn’t necessarily his personal preference. He says it was a career decision he believed could create more opportunities, but as he got older, he became more focused on doing what he genuinely wanted.
