Rookie D-lineman Rylie Mills got the first sack of his career in Super Bowl LX, and it came on an overpowering bull-rush.
“I just ran through his face and then got to the quarterback,” he said.
Mills missed most of the regular season while recovering from a college ACL tear.
Remember when people made fun of the Bears for trading for Montez Sweat because that's just how people react to any Bears move?
Guy is a monster and signing him was a way better strategy than hoping you hit all your draft picks.
This has been a huge topic of conversation for the last 24 for The #Bears; Does Ryan Poles get canned with Eberflus and company?
Here's my take; Absolutely NOT.
1.) Ryan Poles IMO has done everything correct when it comes to building the roster. He ripped this thing DOWN. When was the last time any Bears management has done that?
2.) The offensive line is coming together. He has RT (Wright), RG (Davis), LG (Jenkins), and LT when healthy (Jones) all playing as a unit and getting better every game. When was the last time we had a good, YOUNG line? And he's only once piece away after 1.5 years as GM? Impressive.
3.) The receiver weapons are having a huge impact on how the offense is progressing. You have a real Top-10 TE in Cole Kmet, WR in DJ Moore, and a chance to make it unreal with MHJ. He went out, and got/kept the best. That is what this team needed. We're a play caller away.
4.) Say what you want, but Fields is having a great year progressing. His W/L Record is on the coaches at this point thanks to poor execution (Eberflus even admited it). Fields is reading better, making better choices, and is seriously a play caller away from being a Hurts type QB. He's on track, even missing games, to have a better season overall than last year.
5.) Bears have had a Top-5 running room in consecutive seasons, last year with a poor OL. His evaluation of talent in this department is top notch. Herbert and Johnson will be huge in the future, and I hope we keep Foreman.
6.) The DL is 10x better than last year. They're Top-3 against the run, and since bringing in Montez Sweat, their QB pressure stats have boomed. 2 sacks against a TOUGH Lions OL is impressive. Resigning Billings too for CHEAP is huge too. Get one more wrecker int here, and Bears DL will be #1 next year.
7.) The LBs. What more can you say? You have over 250+ tackles from your starting 3, one is top-3 in the league. Two INTs this past weekend from this group as well. You have to love it. They're also all under contract for the next 3 years. Great thing to not worry about.
8.) The secondary is stacked and YOUNG. They're all getting better EVERY week. They need to continue to progress, but 3/4 starters are 2 years or less in the league, and are playing WELL.
Poles has WAY more wins than losses in his very young GM career, and I still have full faith in him that he'll finalize this roster with a new staff next year.
Major 2017 vibes in regards to being a few pieces away from this team currently. Watch out for Chicago next year. All I'm saying. 🐻⬇️
if this move says anything, its that craig counsell knows milwaukee will always be entrenched in the 3 principles of no history, no legacy, no championships
#Bears RT Darnell Wright had an unbelievably gritty game on Sunday & I'm not just saying that.
It's obvious on the tape that he can barely use his left arm -- his left shoulder must've hurt like hell.
Still, he played the full game one-handed & kept Crosby off Bagent. Badass.
