First: That’s not gaslighting. That’s just making a claim you disagree with.
Secondly, I’d take the person on their knees in a contemporary worship service singing with their whole soul over your elitist, stoic hymn singing any day.
If young men are running to Catholicism and Orthodoxy for any other reason than to boldy profess faith in the biblical Christ, be born again by the power of the Holy Spirit, and follow Him in obedience, they are running to an idol.
They would be essentially running from one man made culture to another to fit their own liking.
Christianity is not a faith of personal appeal. It's a faith of complete submission to Jesus Christ as Lord, Savior, and God.
Running to tradition and religious practices to escape the appearance of sentimentalism/emotionalism is not the answer.
Running to Christ is.
As a youth minister of 5 years now, I have never encouraged emotionalism or performative worship.
We simply sing theologically rich songs through the simplicity of a acoustic guitar or piano which then leads to the students raising their hands, knelling before God, or any other posture of worship. This would include our young men.
We amplify this worship during our summer camp and have seen and heard reports of students, boys and girls, coming back transformed. Primarily because we combine the worship with practical and biblical teachings from a biblical worldview. In other words, they personally know the God they are crying out to, kneeling before, or raising their hands in submission to.
We don't care about a youth group culture. We teach biblical truth and worship the God we are teaching from Scripture in order to assist parents in making their student a disciple of Jesus Christ. That's it. That's all that's needed and that's all this generation really wants.
One cannot help but think the phrase "¡Viva Cuba Libre!" is soon to find new meaning.
A beautiful island filled with beautiful people seems to be on the difficult, painful cusp of freedom.
May it come swiftly and bloodlessly.
God bless the Cuban people.
@ByJimbob@CHS_SC843 No no, it's pretty clear who these people are, doesn't matter how much you want to deflect, we know who the Orthobros are, you included.
@JeffPri24120026@Abunajohn Saying "as a former protestant" does not give you one bit of credibility, let alone to completely assume this much about me, I can also play this game, you were never truly protestant, you don't really understand the gospel nor the power of God as revealed in His word...see?
@Redviking2003@Socred6@Abunajohn Noted, it isn't in fact my 1st language, will check your correction as I'm not entirely sure why it's incorrect, thanks.
@JeffPri24120026@Abunajohn You can't even say Amen to a plain answer from scripture, we're not even speaking the same language friend, I'm not the one who needs others to confirm what the Spirit promised in His revelation.
@Redviking2003@Socred6@Abunajohn I'm not gonna play the Orthobro "debate tactics" with you, you know what he meant, you know what I meant, if you don't agree with the idea, fine, either chalk it up to my poor English skills, or refute the argument altogether.
You don’t have to be Orthodox to have the Grace of God. You have to be in Christ’s Holy Church to have the Grace of God. And, no one, except God, knows the borders of His Church.
I don’t really believe Jay Dyer or his ilk are part of the Church. His priest and bishop are guilty of malfeasance.
