Been coding 12+ hours a day nonstop for almost 8 months now. Recently shifted to making viral content for the startup and itās taking off š Sorry for being mia but I COMPLETELY detached from crypto, and donāt plan to return anytime soon. Itās a lose lose no matter what I try to do as hard as I tried to be helpful and educational thereās always the extreme negativity and attacking. Spending time in the hospital on 3 separate occasions last year was really the end of the line for me. Deleted all my socials on the devices and went fully into learning and practicing code. Isolated myself from the world the past months and honestly Iām so glad I did. I gained new fresh perspective on life, meaning, purpose and made significant improvements in my personal well being. I know nothing about the crypto world right now, I literally DO NOT have any interest in catching up with any of the current events or drama or whatever. Iām fully focused on my work and my goals. Iām sorry if you expected more from me, I really did give my all for years, but it will never be enough and I almost killed myself trying to please everyone.
I do not know if/when/how much/what Iāll be posting about here in the future. For those that said I āran off with the subscription moneyā, no. I donāt even know how that is a serious statement, but I do want to try and provide any insight or value I can on business stuff here moving forward. No clue when or how much I will post. You donāt need to subscribe to me. Take the $5 and buy some AI credits and learn new stuff instead. Itās not that deep.
I hope everyone is doing ok and has been able to try new things and unplug from crypto for a bit, if you havenāt I strongly encourage a sabbatical. Only you have the power to change your outlook and path in life. Itās hard though, especially with so much emotion and finances at stake. I know it was incredibly difficult for me to unplug and I didnāt even realize how addicted to twitter I was. If you read all this I really do hope youāre well and I really do want to see as many people as possible live their dream. This world is messed up man and I know many of us have gone through some really tough stuff. Thereās nothing that you canāt overcome if you have some close support and enough focus.
Hereās to the rest of 2025 and all the new adventures you have in store. Life is funny in how quickly time passes as more time passes. Love on your family, spend quality time with your friends. The internet will be here long after you are, donāt miss out on the best years of your actual life.
Cheers and love - Jason
@juliapintar Heard. Maybe even filming in landscape and posting even the shorter clips to YouTube and then cropping vertical for TT and reels. Anyway glad to see you taking the leap for more content like this! I think it will be incredibly valuable.
I had a 9-5 job paying more than $400k and quit 6 months ago because it incrementally made my life boring and uninspired and degraded my quality of life and mental health
I always dreamed that one day I would be a full time founder and not rely on a biweekly paycheck. I had a voice in my head telling me to do something more exciting and with more impact than just maxing out 401k contributions and having 20 days of paid vacation per year in a āchill jobā. I wanted to build something that was truly mine, that could financially support and intellectually satisfy me
And not because I wanted to have a bunch of money and be ārichā. Because I wanted to be in charge of my life, my vacations, my 10am on Tuesday and my 3pm on Thursday. I wanted to go to the gym in the middle of the day and generally spend my time as I see fit
But I was risk averse. I didnāt quit my job, instead I was a chronic side hustler / wantrepreneur. Built all sorts of small internet businesses that would make a little revenue but never enough to unchain from a stable salary. Dozens of these little businesses over the last 10 years. I knew (hoped) that one day, one of these projects would get traction or show disproportionate opportunity. Something will offer me escape velocity if I keep trying
Eventually I started posting daily videos online telling the story of a wantrepreneur, made some mobile apps, and began to earn a strong enough income outside of my 9-5 to finally take the bet on myself and leave my job. āgolden handcuffsā is an accurate term. how can a 28yo walk away from his high income and low stress job? must be an idiot
Strangers on the internet insist youāre an idiot. Your parents and friends question your decision or reasoning. All conventional wisdom suggests to suck it up, keep your head down, hold onto that W2 income as long as you can, never let go, fill up your retirement 401k and Roth IRA for as long as possible and collect your RSUs and 2.7% annual raise every year until you canāt anymore.
Everyone is different. Donāt listen to other people projecting their risk aversion onto you. Be brave. Life is short. Donāt be a little bitch. Donāt give up and donāt settle. Itās your life weāre talking about. Romanticize it and chase your dreams. Donāt be a little bitch!
@Jibran_05 the best growth guys I know, real killers, are
- building their own company
Or
- advising companies and making 4-5x the salary they would make full time working for a company
how to find a good growth person:
everyone keeps asking where to find good growth people
(someone who understands UGC, Meta Ads, growth funnels)
it's contradictory, though
if someone is actually good at growth
(in a way that drives conversions, can control campaigns, determine ICP, etc)
they'd be building their own product.
instead, you need to be in the weeds training up talent. find the most ambitious 19 year old you can and give them the tools to iterate.
they won't know meta ads, won't fully understand UGC, and will probably make a LOT of mistakes.
BUT
they'll actually be invested in success. learning growth is 70% ambition and iteration and 30% raw talent.
no one legit will do growth for your startup for 150k / year.
My dear front-end developers (and anyone whoās interested in the future of interfaces):
I have crawled through depths of hell to bring you, for the foreseeable years, one of the more important foundational pieces of UI engineering (if not in implementation then certainly at least in concept):
Fast, accurate and comprehensive userland text measurement algorithm in pure TypeScript, usable for laying out entire web pages without CSS, bypassing DOM measurements and reflow
Should just make it a competition of 3-5 people and have a whole series on it. āVibe Code Gamesā or something way more clever. Would absolutely crush on yt and short form plus could allow community voting to further increase engagement and virality of the series.
You need to realize that there is almost no competition right now. More and more people are drawn to escapism. Dopamine traps such as TikTok and Reels have effectively fried about 70% of humans. Attention spans decrease, ambitions drown. You have no competition. In a few years from now, you will be able to see a clear elite.
