Principal of E.B. Ellington ES, CCSD; Doing God’s work inspiring our youth to take control of their lives! Devoted husband, father, grandfather and son!
Using @lorenlong's #LittleTree as our guide, @E_B_Ellington teachers reflected on 20-21, deciding what to hold tight to & what to let go of. We are moving forward with solid instructional practices next year! @Jedallas12@klaclark
So, I messed up today.
I firmly believe that both anti-racism & improved literacy instruction are critical priorities in K–12. And I try to talk about those priorities as a Both-And.
Yet today I tweeted about the topics in a way that didn't convey that.
My tweet sent the wrong signals about my beliefs on the importance of anti-racism work to improving outcomes for Black and brown children.
Also, some felt that it minimized the conversation about Gunlock's editorial & Twitter behavior.
None of these was my intention.
I'm sorry for missing the mark today. I'll be more thoughtful and careful in the future about how and when I advance the literacy cause.
Thanks to all who took the time to share and explain their perspectives. I'm deeply fortunate for the wisdom of this community. 🙏
So proud of my granddaughter for giving back and serving the community. Teach them young and the lessons will carry for a lifetime! @E_B_Ellington@virginiapatte10@SalesNereida @brazier1066 @tarapaigehewan @sugee27
Very proud of our start to the new school year. Still working to balance in-person and virtual instruction; however, Our teachers continue to iterate on their blended learning plans! @MsBlake5th@APTHanhMy@E_B_Ellington
Great reminder that we should never limit our students to what we THINK they can do, or what some TEST says they can do! Quote of the day..."I love the sound policy makes when I break it."
