I was inspired by @mothmaeda 's Kinger(s) and really wanted to make myself a Kinger who could sit on my shoulder for renaissance faires and conventions! WIPs below!

I marked carefully where the wire for his hands would poke out & had to move the right hand's wire placement to achieve the floating effect. The vintage fur coat was too luxurious so I ordered short pile trim & added black spots with a fabric marker. I'm so happy w how he looks!

I thought patterning his clothes would be the easy part since I've made puppet outfits. Nope! I thought I could drape fabric around his body & mark as I went, but since he's sitting I actually had to use the plastic wrap and masking tape method. The final piece is made of 4 parts

He got quilt batting to give him some body and his eyes got attached and painted. I accidentally placed them too wide but was able to fix it with clever gluing. Also his right arm got cut off once I understood how I would have to attach his hands.

He got magnets glued to his bottom & a paint job. Painting took a few days (acrylic). I assumed I'd paint a very generic blue butterfly, but seeing his desk & the fact a blue morpho's under wings look not unlike abstraction I knew despite my shaky hands it had to be a blue morpho

I gave him arms, a bottom, and feet. The "foot" is made from more foam clay and the thin cylinder is craft foam. He got a good spray with plastic dip to prep for painting.

I used strong wire to act as his skeleton and made his head, eyes, and hands out of foam clay.
