Today we celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day and honour the strength, resilience, cultures, languages, and traditions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. We take pride in our identities, celebrate our communities, and carry forward our teachings. #NIPDay2026
Each year, I remind my children that September 30 is not merely a holiday, but a time to participate in community events, reflect, and honour those who attended residential schools, including the loved ones who did not make it home. #TruthAndReconciliation#orangeshirtday

Unfortunately, my children (both with special needs) will once again be left out this year. The REAL District and the QCX must strive to do better!
Last year, my daughter Sharlize attended the @Queencityex for the first time in 9 years. This was made possible to an initiative introduced by the @REALDistrictyqr & QCX that enabled families with disabilities and limited mobility to attend the fair at an earlier time.

Why introduce a successful initiative only to discontinue it the following year? That is NOT inclusion! So many families will be impacted by this decision. All our loved ones desire is to feel included and have equal access to experiences offered by this city.
Before the day ends, let’s reflect on honouring National Indigenous Peoples Day & the Summer Solstice—a time of light, renewal, and Indigenous strength.
Celebrate culture, community, and connection.

It became a continuous battle between federal and provincial responsibility. Shame on those people who misused this funding! They should be held accountable and pay it back! This is not how one honours the legacy of Jordan River Anderson.
Over $9 billion spent since 2016 for Jordan's Principle funding requests. Some of those requests for NON-ESSENTIAL things include modeling headshots, snowmobiles, zip line kits, and gaming consoles! So many people abused this initiative for years across this country! (1)
Weeks after the father of Jordan River Anderson demanded transparency for Jordan’s Principle, a program named after his late son, Indigenous Services Minister Patty Hajdu says processes are being tightened to return the initiative to its original intent. https://t.co/Lj0BSIvyEb
Many special needs children who depended on this funding source were lost in the endless piles of funding requests. My two children, who are both ASD, are amongst the thousands of children across the country who have fallen through the cracks of this system. (2)
@reginapolice This post is in response to some of the negative comments & messages I received regarding my videos from the RPS round dance. I support #RPS 💯 Kinanâskomitin for all your continued hard work! (3)
Back in 2016, my daughter (who is ASD) went missing from my home. It took RPS less than 5 mins to respond & to dispatch search teams. Two hours later, police found her safe. The following day, we gifted @reginapolice with a gift basket to show our gratitude...(cont'd).
@reginapolice Because that night, RPS made my daughter their #1 priority. I have the utmost respect for our police service. This is why I support & attend their annual round dance they host every year in Regina. And I truly believe in their efforts to reconciliation. (2)
I said it before and I'll say it again. @reginapolice knows how to bring a community together with their annual round dance. Such great vibes all evening. Kinanâskomitin RPS 🙏
⏰The countdown is on for the 17th annual Regina Police Service Round Dance⏰
Join us at the mâmawêyatitân centre on February 7th for a feast and round dance to follow. Stay tuned for more details!
"We may not achieve reconciliation within my lifetime ... but we will be able to achieve it if we all commit to working towards it properly ... what we did in this country was wrong, and we will never allow that to happen again."
- Honourable Murray Sinclair
To honour the passing of Murray Sinclair, I’ve put an orange shirt in my window - and I’m inviting others to do the same across the country. We owe him, and the residential school survivors he supported, a great deal for helping to put us on the path of truth and reconciliation.
Canada mourns the loss of Murray Sinclair, who was a prominent figure known for his leadership in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. His contributions have been vital in promoting dialogue and understanding in the ongoing journey towards reconciliation. Rest in Paradise 🙏
Today, my children and I honour my parents & my grandparents who attended residential schools & those who did not make it home. We remember 🧡
To my ally friends, I extend my heartfelt gratitude. Your presence and involvement today are truly valued. Kinanâskomitin. 🙏
