Macmillan Charity Race Day 2024 Ride of Their Lives @ York Races ⬇️

1️⃣5️⃣ - 0️⃣6️⃣ - 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣

The Macmillan Charity Raceday is the oldest and largest event of its kind in the country, raising over £10 million in its 52 year history for people living with cancer.

Held every June, the highlight of the day is the Macmillan Ride of Their Lives race that sees 12 amateur jockeys ride down the famous Knavesmire course. Each year 25,000 spectators enjoy a day with us to cheer these brave riders on as they take on the challenge of their lifetime.

We are proud to announce that one of our team Amelia Thornton-Berry will be taking part in the event this year with stable legend Masque Of Anarchy looking after her on the day 🐎 All the team @ Craig Lidster Racing are fully behind you Amelia!

Why I would like to take part in the race?

York is the local course for my family, and it is regarded as one of the most prestigious courses in the country. I have always enjoyed attending multiple annual meetings there. The Macmillan race is a long-time aspiration of mine to participate in. Not only would I be riding on my home turf, but it would also be an opportunity to enhance my racing knowledge, which I believe is essential to encourage among the younger generation and promote the longevity of the sport. This race would also enable me to fundraise for a charity that has supported many people undergoing cancer treatment. Unfortunately, we all have close associations with those who are currently undergoing treatment, have lost loved ones to this dreadful disease, and realise that it could affect our friends, family, or colleagues in the future. I lost my aunt to pancreatic cancer in 2016, and Macmillan provided incredible support to her until the very end. Participating in this race would be a way to express my gratitude and achieve a personal goal in her memory.
