@PunditParanoia@RevDaniel Of course he was arrested. He broke clearly communicated laws enacted by lawful public health authorities, created to protect the public health of the community. Flagrantly, and repeatedly. He knew the expected outcome of his actions. This is not authoritarianism.
@natgrace79 This makes me think of the quote, "everyone wants to save the world, but no one wants to do the dishes." I forget who said it – someone smarter than me – but it is extremely astute. It's the "doing the dishes", figuratively, that gets the problems solved.
@piper4missouri The woman in *show business* who has been married -and faithful -to one man throughout her entire adult life, and could not be more wholesome if she tried - is "immoral"? Maybe it's because I'm Canadian, but I just don't get it 🤷♀️
@terraistrying @CBCNews They are no better or worse than the other big grocery chains (Metro, Sobeys, etc.) People just know who Galen Weston is
so he gets all the hate
- the anonymous bigwigs at the other companies are no different, though.
@CarissasNewLife As a social worker, I *cringe* at "therapy" that is based entirely on self-report from people whose perspective may not be...accurate 😬 Ad the data quality guy at work says: "Garbage in; Garbage out."
@MattThiessenNT Sounds a LOT like my then-tween (now 19yo) subjecting her father and I to a full PowerPoint presentation on why we should allow her to have her own Instagram account (It was a different time. And we were social media-strict parents. No regrets ;)
@inhabitingtrees@RevDaniel AirBnB has it's good and bad sides, and I understand people's frustration with it. The local regulations apply to traditional cottage owners who rent privately & AirBnB hosts alike - baby has gone out with the bathwater 🤷♀️
@inhabitingtrees@RevDaniel Generally speaking, you're never going to find any goods or services that 100% of people can afford/have access to. But that does not mean we should abandon the goal of making things (like vacation rentals) accessible to *more* people.
@RevDaniel If people could not rent out their cottages, a) Only the super-wealthy could afford them and b) Only the super-wealthy would have access to that experience. Yes to reasonable regulation; No to "Don't buy it if you can't afford it!" 2/
When everything seems awful all the time everywhere (and for good reason), I just want to say-I love my humble, mostly-grey-haired, quirky, affirming, awkward, generous, and wonderful church. Westminster United Church in Orangeville, Ontario - I ❤️ you.
