Platner should be a wake up call for Democrats that leftists are pushing wacko candidates who will risk must-win seats in an election where American democracy is at stake. We need to get better about rejecting lunatics and those pushing them on the party.
IMO, we’d be better off with a nominee who could dedicate more time to prosecuting the case against Donald Trump and Susan Collins — rather than being plagued by a new self-inflicted scandal almost every week.
Three women who dated Graham Platner, the Democratic candidate for Senate in Maine, told The New York Times they found his actions intimidating and disturbing, describing volatile relationships. https://t.co/ClaeKxVUEs
Even if we didn’t know exactly how — it was entirely predictable that as more and more came out on Platner — it would only get worse. Safe bet it will get worse yet. I blame him and those on his team who thought it’d be fun to play Russian roulette with a must-win Senate race.
WSJ: Senators Privately Ask Graham Platner Whether New Allegations Will Emerge
Maine Senate candidate tells Democratic lawmakers, "The worst of the rumors we’ve all heard are not true" and denied credible allegations of assault are forthcoming.

Platner's scandals so far are that he is opposed to our relationship with Israel and wants to get rid of oligarchy.
The Dem consultants and reporters walking around with giant erections about a new Platner scandal just want the status quo, but they know that's unpopular.

Candidate quality matters. Republicans are going to feel it with Paxton in Texas, but Democrats aren’t immune either.
El-Sayed and Platner could make otherwise winnable races far more of a headache.
Obviously it'll be an Al Franken-style hit of something that looks bad but probably isn't. Smearing populists is the game here since defending Israel and billionaires is very unpopular.
tbh this guy has always been example #1 of how some people on the left would literally rather have Democrats lose, it's just interesting that he's now being so explicit about it.
Kenyan McDuffie is endorsed by Eric Holder, former Attorney General under Barack Obama.
DSA’s Janeese Lewis George is endorsed by Trayon White, who was expelled from the DC Council over federal bribery allegations.
The contrast tells you a lot.
Once again, beyond any question of scandal while the factional campaign succeeded in winning the primary it's something you want to pivot away from when you're running in a blue state against a Republican with a moderate reputation.
🚨Endorsement Alert🚨
I’m proud to be endorsed by former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, who served as the 82nd Attorney General of the United States under President Barack Obama.
“Kenyan McDuffie served with me at the Department of Justice during my time as Attorney General under President Obama,” said Holder. “He demonstrated there the integrity, judgment and commitment to justice that have defined his career. On the DC Council, he has carried those values forward.”
I am deeply honored to have the support of General Holder, whose lifelong commitment to equal justice and the rule of law has been an inspiration to public servants across the country. As Mayor, I will bring that same commitment to make DC safer, more affordable and more accountable for every resident.
