A CITY COUNCIL IN IOWA JUST OPENED ITS MEETING WITH A PRAYER TO SATAN, AND I CAN'T BELIEVE I EVEN HAVE TO TYPE THAT.
The invocation at the Ottumwa city council meeting reportedly ended with the words "Hail Satan."
This is a small town in the heartland, not some coastal college campus.
When a community starts letting the devil lead off its public meetings, something has gone badly wrong with the people running the show.
Ottumwa residents deserve answers about how this got on the agenda and who signed off on it.
Pray for that town today, because they clearly need it more than ever 🙏
Say what you want, but my nigga @BurtBronx is fucking down for whatever when it comes to providing content, this niggas dedication is something to be admired #fishtanklive
People come and go. No matter their significance or your own perceived value you had towards them. They will shine brightly how scintillating it may appear at times you might think you found your people, your tribe, but no, they eventually like the rest will come and go.
If there’s one good thing to come out of the Cornell university scandal it’s that it highlights how rape accusations can ruin lives. I experienced this years ago and it was a traumatic experience. I can only imagine how much worse it would have felt if the allegations were false
Instead of all the Jesus movies, they should make a super suspenseful TV series about Early Christians, with all the hiding, secret gatherings, persecution, counterculture, fish signs, samizdat scriptures, show trials, existential level theology debates, dumb evil myopic emperors, genius letters, upside down crucifixions, lions eating virgins in arenas, etc. -- and it would be super relevant for how culture evades, evolves, spreads and transforms today.
Pizza is the best (to me) when you’ve let it sit out on the counter for like 15 minutes and it’s still warm but not scalding and the cheese congeals a bit and you can take massive cartoon sized chomps and it’s just all squishy and warm and delicious I love pizza
Ever since returning to Christianity, I’ve run into an inescapable truth about people who hate Christians: when you are deeply rooted in a personal relationship with God, people hate you—because it largely makes you untouchable.
There really isn’t anything they can do to me.
My faith teaches that I will be rewarded for being persecuted for refusing to be worldly and play by the world’s rules. Even if you kill me for my faith—as horrifying as it would be to leave behind my children and family—you’re only sending me to be with my beloved Savior. There isn’t anything you can do to me.
True Christianity is unshakable, and that’s what bothers people who love this world and are of this world. They can’t hurt you. Society doesn’t like me? People of the world don’t like me? The same world that tortured and murdered a perfect, sinless man—God incarnate? Oh well.
As the saying goes: “Your boos mean nothing to me. I’ve seen what makes you cheer.” Or, as Jesus said: “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first” (John 15:18).
