@Strelitxia I can't really fault #TheBadBatch for including her because I WOULD DO THE SAME, I mean not to be attracted to animated characters but oh my god, while also feeling deeply disappointed in how lackluster the story was compared to the comics.
Looking forward to the sheer amount of cognitive dissonance between Tumblr being furious about #TheBadBatch while Twitter loved it. There should be a specific term for social media mental whiplash.
@zed_pm 😂I hear you. I'm in that weird place where I agree with a lot of the criticisms and I'm just exhausted by the whitewashing stuff, and the story stuff isn't the end of the world, but also I do have a ton of energy for talking about why it's really disheartening.
Hill I will die on:
Anakin Skywalker is an asshole cat.
Name literally any behavior your asshole cat does and I will immediately picture it as something Anakin would do.
Knock things off a shelf just because?
Eat grass even though it makes him barf?
Play with shiny things?
@mochibuni I just love so much that Mattel was like, "What if we made Darth Vader a MILF?" and then WENT TO TOWN ON THE DESIGN, from the jet black hair to the Chanel boots to that skirt that could kill a man. A+ work here.
@IlumMoss fight over disagreeing about the direction of the Avengers!" but even that's not guaranteed.
So, feel free to speculate, despite what you do or don't know about comics! It cheerfully does not matter! 😀
Another thing I'm forever torn between:
- You cannot & SHOULD NOT compare the MCU storylines to their comic counterparts, they are passingly familiar at best
VS
- Yes but "the hex is rewriting you on a molecular level" being an possible inversion of "no more mutants"???PARALLEL??
@IlumMoss The only thing you would gain from reading Marvel comics is that you might like some Marvel comics, you are meant to enjoy the MCU as its own thing and speculate based on the MCU alone.
I mean, you might get really broad strokes in the sense of "eventually Cap and Iron Man will
@IlumMoss (Well, not wholly divorced. The MCU is inspired by the comics storylines. But they are so different that you can't even use one as a generalized roadmap to the other, like, at all.)
@IlumMoss Tbh, I'm probably reaching very, very hard here (& it's speculation that doesn't need to have anything to do with the comics) but it's where my mind goes every single time, despite knowing full well the MCU and the comics are WHOLLY DIVORCED FROM EACH OTHER
@IlumMoss RIGHT? On the one hand, reserved characters should be allowed to be reserved without it meaning more, ESPECIALLY female characters because name one reserved female character that's not basically called a frigid bitch, NAME O N E.
