I'm pleased to share that my latest @FoxNewsOpinion piece was published today.
For decades, The 🇺🇸 USA has treated #Iran as a conventional state. My argument is that the regime is a long-term national security #threat that has built its influence through #terrorism, & ideological confrontation. @FoxNews

Trump is not known for accuracy. Here, he again repeats misinformation about giving "the Kurds" weapons intended to help the people of Iran.
There are several reasons this should not be believed:
1) PJAK and other Kurdish groups in Iran (and Iraq) have announced in recent months that they have received no weapons from the United States for the purpose of combating Tehran.
2) The armed Kurdish groups in the Zagros and Iraq are clearly using weapons that date from the 1940s through the 1970s.
3) It is hardly believable that US CENTCOM strategists, many of whom are smart people, would deem it feasible for Kurdish militants from the mountains to cross Iran, a heavily surveilled and securitized country, pass through numerous official checkpoints, and arrive in Tehran with a giant cache of weapons. If these weapons were seized while this hypothetical "gun run" was attempted, they would fall into Iranian hands. Is that a smart plan?
4) Furthermore, expecting any militants to run this gauntlet and cross Iran with pallets of weapons in a short enough timeframe to arm people in Tehran is highly unreasonable.
5) An official plan to arm everyday Iranian street protesters could likely not have been approved by US CENTCOM without a plan for firearms training. There is no expectation of the safe transfer of weapons unless some sort of training accompanies it. Who was going to conduct that training? PJAK? Israeli agents? CIA? The protesters themselves?
Trump often insults and smears groups or individuals when he wants something out of them. He may think that spreading this misinformation will compel Kurdish groups to the negotiating table and ultimately decide to work with the US against Tehran. Or he may simply be trying to blame someone else for his failure to provide aid in time to save the lives of Iranian protesters killed by the regime. Or it may just be a "brain blip" by a man who will be 80 years old next week. We do not know for sure.
While Trump tells these falsehoods from a comfortable chair, the Kurdish region may suffer with more bombings from Tehran falling over their heads.
#Trump assesses alliances and partners primarily by direct utility, financial cost, and immediate compliance with his specific objectives..!. deliberately and
repeatedly blaming Kurds, he appeases Erdogan ..!.
One big mistake in policy analysis is underestimating the worldviews of decision-makers by ascribing an unrealistic level of pragmatic rationalism to states. Politics don’t work that way. #Turkey’s threats to #Israel are definitely about ideology as much as they are about power.

Simple questions:
Why do 5 million Palestinians have the "right" to a state, but not 40-60 million freedom-seeking #Kurds?
Why are there endless marches & protests for Palestinians, but not Kurds?
Why is the UN obsessed with Palestinians, but doesn't give a damn about Kurds?
