@JRDNLTHMS It’s somehow fitting that he drives a total poser Mercedes that is absolutely impractical for anything other than showing off. The expensive 3 piece suit and mirrored sunglasses complete the image of pretentious sh*tbag.
@m_druker@Markster3000 Apologies for the late reply but 20 years of dealing with entrenched interests and do nothing politicians has taught me to be cynical. I’m middle aged and don’t really have another 20 years to wait for decades of incrementalism.
@Tesho13 Meanwhile, here in the US, it would take almost a decade of “planning” and permission from God to even attempt to build something like this. And then another 2 years of “construction” assuming the “plan” isn’t killed outright thanks to lobbyists, politicians, or NIMBY’s.
@MJGustavson @TheWarOnCars Ooo, I’ll add terrorizing cyclists, in addition to shooting unarmed poor people, to the list of things cops prefer over actual law enforcement.
@Dave_A_Turpin @TheWarOnCars Exactly! There are lots of mods banned in California, from muffler mods to tire mods, but cops would rather shoot unarmed poor people than enforce the law.
@Stephanie_K_B@Weather_West That’s a great point. I too remember the “grey” Januaries and Februaries. I lived in LA for a few years 10 years ago and I used to joke to people there that I’m from the “great grey north” of Sacramento (most never even heard of Stockton)!
@m_druker Of course, to touch on my own point in a separate thread, the rich probably wouldn’t sully themselves with a “yucky” activity like walking on a street. Most of their walking is on a treadmill in their private and exclusive clubs.
@m_druker I’m sure those pedestrians would be treated differently if they were rich. Everyone else would be treated the same as the students, or worse.
@m_druker@Markster3000 Non sequitur, your facts are uncoordinated. Everyone knows that the furthest regional councilors/county supervisors ever walk is the distance from their plush offices to their designated free parking spot. The walk from their luxury car to their upscale suburban home is shorter.
@nn12081@_dmoser Just saw the chart title. This is a terrible comparison as Stockton has like 4 commuter trains to the Bay Area per day. This should be normalized to single trips, but even that is sketchy.
@finchfrii Tuolumne, San Joaquin, Mokelumne, Cosumnes. I really enjoy hearing out of towners trying to pronounce our Native Californian names here in the Central Valley.
