ICYMI, I dive into the what the Phillies system value is and where the big league club is in their rebuild in terms of this year’s trade market. https://t.co/gnB6ndDm1Q
The Phillies have hired Casey Weathers as their director of pitching. Weathers will have a player development-focused role, and he most recently served as a pitching coordinator with the Reds.
We are fucked as a country. One way or the other. People continue to buy into this guys racist bullshit and now we have likely sent everyone’s rights back
The playoff system really should make the LDS into a 7 game series. And maybe there is a little something to the bye thing a little bit, but it's not the overwhelming factor as to why a team loses. And if you are making it your excuse, then you deserve to lose
Braves fans think they got Phillies fans because they lost after getting the bye, but the reality is the bye didn't really break the offense because it was already sort of broken
2022 felt like house money. They had a chance, but I didn't truly think they'd beat the Astros
Last year was when they didn't take advantage so that one burns the most of the three years IMO
This year burns because it's the Mets, but I don't feel the same misery as the year prior
That said I'll say again what I said last offseason: while their chase numbers overall were better, they dipped as the season went on and got into bad habits again. They need 2/3 of this lineup to figure out to not chase and work some counts, and right now it's flipped around
After how the last two years ended, if I'm Dave, I have to consider some sort of shakeup. It's a great group of guys that have bonded so well together, but the offensive mindset from 2/3 of their lineup is incredibly flawed and they cannot adjust properly.
I don't think this team needs to add another six figure or $20 million+ AAV contract guy to this lineup. I think you only try to get a guy like Soto or Bregman (not interested even if his metrics fit the type) if you get off at least two highly paid deals on your roster
I hate when relievers are asked to come back in after a long wait in the dugout. Add on top of the fact Hoffman has been up and down most of the game getting ready for Ranger. Just not a good choice by Topper to do that and then not have anyone ready after the 2nd batter
I don't think Bohm is going to be back next year, and that's not just reactionary to this series. It's an accumaltion of what happened in the second half this year and, truthfully, his progression in general over the last few years
I'm still sticking with this, but the bullpen being absolutely lit on fire in these three games gives me more doubt, even moreso than the offense which would be equally as bad if Sunday didn't happen
The Phillies will win this series. It may take five games just because it Mets/Phillies and there's always weird shit, but they are going to win. So stopped acting scared, if you have been, especially if you are a media personality throwing negative thoughts out there

And if you are selling your tickets for the game (you shouldn't, though I know ticket brokers have gotten a hold of some), jack that price up to $2000 per ticket or don't sell them at all and give them to some other Philly fan who can pay you back over time if you need to recoup
