We must stand with the Pakistani people as their democracy is at serious risk. They should be able to elect their leaders without interference and tampering with the process, and the U.S. must ensure our tax dollars don't go to anyone undermining that.
I am deeply concerned by reports of anti-democratic measures taken by Pakistan’s armed forces ahead of today’s voting.
The Pakistani people deserve to choose their leaders in free & fair elections without fear of violence, and any election outcome must reflect their will alone.
In the aftermath of the Pakistani general elections, the candidates endorsed by Imran Khan, initially triumphant by a substantial margin, faced an unexpected reversal as results were marred by delays.Massive rigging is being done to manipulate the results.
Asim Munir should at least release Imran Khan for a day to make a speech reflecting #Pakistan's (and the wider Ummah's) sentiments on #Palestine.
At the moment, all we have is #Erdogan talk of "restraint from all parties" and Bin Salman "monitoring the unprecedented situation".
