@PeterCorless The Post-Vulgate of course heavily influences Malory, so we think of it as core material, but the Arthur of the earlier Vulgate is randy but never depicted as an abuser of women. His flaws there are being too trusting and rashness. 2/2

@PeterCorless The Arthur as sexual predator thing only appears in a single romance, the Post-Vulgate, and in my opinion is a heavy handed choice. The PV tried to reshape Arthurian legend into a tragedy - that's where the incest is foregrounded, Gawaine goes bad... 1/2
