@Tropolitan The Thoreau quotation you used is by Robert D. Richardson Jr who wrote “It is not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see” in his biography, Henry Thoreau: A Life of the Mind (U of California Press). He was not quoting Thoreau. Sadly this happens all the time.
Bought my first generation Prius sight unseen to show my support of Toyota's policy toward the environment. But now I am seriously angry at #Toyota for choosing short term profits over planetary health. My current Toyota is my last!

Forty-five honors students spent the afternoon with Jeffrey S. Cramer at @TheWaldenWoods in Lincoln, MA, for both breadth and depth. Mr. Cramer is a world-renowned Thoreau scholar and the Curator of Collections at the Thoreau Institute.
New Episode: This week I'm chatting with @JeffreySCramer about his new book Solid Seasons and the friendship of two local literary figures–Henry David Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson. https://t.co/J1mthOV6gH
"Thoreau seems to have put all of his faith in one person at a time. The friend, the ideal friend he wanted... seemed to be Emerson."
@JeffreySCramer spoke with @livingonearth's @JenniDoering about Thoreau, Emerson, and why he wrote SOLID SEASONS. https://t.co/zU2mX6Aylf
@berkollage I see many things that keep changing. There is a fluidity that makes me look again so that I what I saw a minute ago has changed into something else.
@JeffreySCramer@CounterpointLLC It was similar for Thoreau. “Each thought that is welcomed and recorded is a nest egg,” he wrote, “by the side of which more will be laid. Thoughts accidentally thrown together become a frame in which more may be developed and exhibited. https://t.co/whbJNakB0H

"An illuminating history of an exceptional friendship.” —Booklist (starred review)

"Emerson was prescient in anticipating why Thoreau’s
literary star would rise higher than his own, noting that his one-time protégé 'illustrates by
excellent images that which I should have conveyed in a sleepy generality.'”
