These few days have taught me a lot about this country called Nigeria. If you ever think that the masses will unanimously take a decision to find a solution to their common problem using their PVC, then you still have not understood anything. It will not happen!!!
Nigeria is being dismantled from within. No farmland due to insecurity, heightened corruption, and hyperinflation, birthing a rapid rise in poverty.
For some reason, the citizens think they are helpless and that "all will be well” after some time.
Lol.
Delusion!
@MTNNG@MTN180 Your network (Internet) is terrible around Benue State to be honest. From Govt house, old GRA to High level to Gaadi Layout to Wurukum axis to Otukpo and Gboko; same story. Poor is an understatement, haba.
@SpiricocoNg@DavidHundeyin You can hate someone without showing you are a bitter soul as well. The whole world knows who the real sponsor of terrorism is, so stick to the script of your paymasters because it's very obvious from your write-up. Not everyone is lazy to research.
Try harder!
@ImJayslim101@JayNaija I just dey shake my head for the comments. Nigerians are easily convinced by other people's opinion. Honda all day for me.
Currently on 012 Accord, next will be 014-015 Touring God willing.
@ajikobi_tunde@EmekaOEmeka5@HAHayatu Bros, go and find out the definition of 'poor,' and 'extremely poor' according to UNDP. Literally over 70% of the population is poor and over 50% is extremely poor. So when you say poor people, what's your definition of 'poor people.'
What I understand from your post is this.
Take Ademola / Emeka / Adamu as an example.
He earns ₦300,000 per month.
How many Nigerians even earn up to ₦300k?
₦300,000 × 12 = ₦3,600,000 per year.
Under the new PAYE starting from 2026, the first ₦800,000 is tax-free.
The old CRA is removed.
Rent relief now applies.
Assume he pays ₦70,000 rent monthly.
That is ₦840,000 per year.
20% rent relief = ₦168,000.
So taxable income becomes:
₦3,600,000 − ₦800,000 − ₦168,000 = ₦2,632,000.
Under the new PAYE bands, tax now starts high.
15% applies first, then 18%.
₦2,200,000 × 15% = ₦330,000.
₦432,000 × 18% = ₦77,760.
Total PAYE = ₦407,760 per year.
(That is about ₦33,980 per month).
So his real take-home pay is:
₦300,000 − ₦33,980 = ₦266,020.
Now real life begins.
Rent takes ₦70,000 (monthly estimate).
School fees take ₦40,000 (monthly estimate).
[Depends on the number of children]
Balance left = ₦156,020.
Food, groceries, chicken, washing items, basics take ₦120,000.
VAT at 7.5% adds ₦9,000.
Total = ₦129,000.
Balance left = ₦27,020.
Phone calls and data cost ₦15,000.
VAT adds ₦1,125.
Total = ₦16,125.
Balance left = ₦10,895.
Transport, haircuts, small services cost ₦10,000.
VAT adds ₦750.
Total = ₦10,750.
Balance left = ₦145.
He makes bank transfers.
10 transfers × ₦50 = ₦500.
I FORGOT ELECTRICITY/GENERATOR FUEL EXPENSES
Now he is in deficit.
This is someone earning ₦300k per month.
Not ₦150k.
Not ₦100k.
Government collects when you earn (PIT).
Government collects when you spend (VAT).
Government collects when you move money (charges).
That is how tax filters to the consumer.
We explain.
We teach.
We break everything down.
To the point that some people feel
he is doing this for himself
or because he believes in another candidate.
So please,
all shop owners,
all business owners,
run fast and implement the new tax law.
Make sure you charge 7.5%
on every good you sell
and every service you render.
That is what the law states.
Please do not break the law.
It is a crime not to do this.
Do not blink.
Let us see
who go first cry.
Poverty is the main reason for fear.
Slow down and read it again.
Poverty of the mind and 'economic' poverty.
Note that the worst poverty is actually poverty of the mind.
A developed mind will dare to explore and ask questions rather than complain or blame someone else.
